These are handy when you need to plug your device without a 3.5 jack into aux for example to listen to music through car stereo, speaker, headphones.The only downside is that it only works for sound to play media etc you can't use the controls such as skip on your headphone or if answer a call hands free people can't hear you speak.So depending on your use they are handy and cheaper than replacing car stereo, speakers and headphones if not compatible when you get a new phone etc or want an option not to use Bluetooth to save battery

Not suitable for making music
This has a latency issue that makes it unsuitable for use with the synthesizer app on my ipad. After a second or two of silence, when I play the next note there is an uncomfortable delay / lag before it makes a sound. It's as if just a short silence is enough to make it go to sleep, then it needs to be woken up.Just tested it playing "When the Saints go marching in", problem occurs on the first note of the piece and then on the first note after a bar in which there are no notes, i.e. a silence 4 beats long is enough for the device to appear to go to sleep.
