We have been using these water filters cartridges with our water jug for some time now. We used to buy them from our local supermarket until I spotted them here on Amazon - at 80% cheaper!!!!! We live in a hardwater area, and although I admit to being initially sceptical as to their use, thinking they were just another way to get me to part with money on a regular basis, I have been won over and can definitely see that they work! and we would just be buying bottles of water anyway, as our tap water isn't great - no matter what anyone says, even the cats don't like it!! The technical description is that the cartridges reduce limescale, chlorine and impurities, basically they make the water taste better and really cut down on limescale forming in the kettle! Yes, we use the filtered water in our kettle and it has really helped with the limescale, so our kettles our cleaner and lasting much longer. The recommendation is that the cartridge should be changed once a month; we get through about two full jugs of water a day, and store them in bottles in the fridge, so we always have a supplied of filtered cold water, we have found they are actually effective for upto nearly two months, obviously we use more water during the hot summer months, which is when we use about one a month. The cartridges are very easy to install. These cartridges will fit in all BRITA MAXTRA jugs, but do bear in mind you buy the right filters for the right jug (something we didn't initially do!). These filters come in a variety of pack sizes, from individual to four packs, this six pack, and eight, twelve and even twenty packs. I really like this six pack size because we'll hopefully get just about a year out of it; so basically thats about £15 for the year, not too shabby! Overall a very good product, they definitely work and do make a considerable difference to the taste of the water, your cuppa or squash will never have tasted so good!

First off these are great value for money: a 12 pack breaks down as £2.49 per cartridge. Over 30 days that's 8 pence per day. To buy a 1.5 litre bottle of Volvic is about 64p from the supermarket, so that's a saving of 56p per day / £16.80 per month! Not to mention that fact that shop bought plastic bottles contain Phthalates. Although water, in and of itself, does not go bad, the plastic bottle it is contained in does "expire" and will eventually start leaching chemicals into the water. If you look at the expiry dates on bottled water, it's 2 years, so in theory that water could have been sitting on the shelf for that long! For me personally, I like cold fresh water, which I've filtered and from which I know the source. i.e. my kitchen tap! I've been using Maxtra Water Filter Cartridges for 5 years now and won't use anything else. My Brita fridge jug has also stood the test of time and is still going strong. My jug has a set timer which indicates when the cartridge needs replacing. I always make sure to give the jug a good clean each month before inserting the new cartridge. The cartridge is so easy to use. It comes in a sealed plastic bag, which is easy to open and has clear instructions. After I've cleaned the jug, I submerge the filter in water for 30 seconds to ensure it's fully soaked then insert it into the filter hole in the jug. From there I push down gently until I feel it click into place. After I add water and let it filter through, pour away then repeat twice more, close the lid, set the timer and place in the fridge to chill! That's it! Now I have fresh water for the next 30 days and at a fraction of the cost of what it would cost me to buy in the shops. The taste of the filtered water is very clean with no strange aftertaste - I often find that shop bought water has a slight metallic taste and bizarrely sometimes fails to quench my thirst. A truly great product and one that I'll continue to use for years to come. Thanks Brita for making such a quality product.

I am genuinely surprised that I can notice a difference in the taste of filtered water as opposed to that right out the tap, but I CAN and so can my family. So big thumbs up to Brita for that, this is a fantastic product which is superb value if you keep an eye on the offers which are always available to let you stock up on 4 or 6 filters at a time for not much money. However....! I've noticed that no matter how many times I rinse the filter cartridges out before using them they ALWAYS leave little black specks of carbon in the dregs of every single batch I filter. I know they say this is harmless but it's quite unpleasant to see black stuff floating about your drink, especially when it's for your kids, so that's why I give this 4 stars instead of 5. But it's still an excellent product and everyone should be using these!

Very good value for money Arrived when they said they were going to Definitely purchase again

This product is good and price is also good. But just be careful about amazon prime membership.If amazon asked you to try a trial version of amazon prime, just be careful. If you accept it and the period of the trial is finished you will automatically become a member of amazon prime and amazon will charge you. In UK it is 79 GBP per a year. Apparently they send you an email with instruction on how to cancel your membership but if you don't see the email (like me and my colleague) among so many emails from amazon and don't follow the instruction and cancel your trial amazon prime membership then you become a member automatically. They don't send a paper receipt to your address so you wouldn't notice that they have debited your account. Today I and a colleague of mine noticed that we have been an amazon prime member and our accounts have been debited for 79 GBP. He could refund it but I could not because apparently I was unknowingly using the one day delivery service of amazon prime for the last 10 months, even though I had never used other services like watching movies... I just thought I share this information so that you also double check your account and make sure you are not an amazon prime member against your will.

I've been using these filters for Brita jugs for years and I am always happy with the quality of water you get. I always immerse the brand new filter into water till the bubbles come on top of it after which I insert it onto the jug. Once inserted in the jug, it is important to have two test-try it twice before you can drink of use the filtered water. I would pour water in the jug once, let it filter, then discard it and repeat the procedure a second time. After that it is OK to drink. I've also noticed that if not stored properly the filters can become moist. If they do become, it is best not to use them. Overall, I am very happy with these types of Brita filters and I plan to use them for more years to come. Buying them in bulk, x8, x16 or 32 is cheaper but you should take good care of them and store them in cool, dry place, away from water, e.g. in a cupboard. I certainly recommend them and I know for fact that the quality of water after it has been filtered by these Brita cartridges is quite notable.

We have had various Brita jugs for over 20 years, and were prompted to purchase the jug initially following moving into a new house in another area of Essex, and having a strong chemical taste in our water which was very obvious in tea or coffee. Anglian Water advised that the water was within their stated limits. So we purchased our first jug. We are now on our third which uses the Maxtra filter, our previou jugs used the classic filter, and whilst we tried various generic alternative filters, they were not as good as the Brita original. The Maxtra filter is the best, but is expensive. On the odd occasion we could get them on offer from Tesco or Wilco but were still expensive. Before purchasing our next filter, had a look at Amazon and wow, a box of 6 for £15.99, if we were lucky we could get just 3 for that price, and they are genuine Brita originals. Placed our order and the box arrived the next morning, yet again great service from Amazon. Brita also offer a free jug timer replacement service, although I could not find this mentioned on their web. Ours has failed, so contacted Brita and a free replacement is in the post to us. Great product and great service from them. For what it's worth, we also use our filtered water to top up our fishtanks both freshwater and marine.

Die Filter erfüllen Ihren Zweck und sind günstiger als im Laden. Würde ich gleich die Jahrespackung kaufen würde ich noch mehr sparen aber der Platzmangel lässt nur die 3-Monatspackung zu. Ich habe hier sehr kalkiges Wasser und zwar so kalkig, dass ich den Wasserkocher nach einmaliger Nutzung entkalken muss oder sollte, je nachdem wie kalkliebend man ist^^ Ich hasse Kalk ;-) Sollte mir auch einen filternden Duschkopf zulegen, das würde mein Leben um einiges verschönern (gibt's sowas *denk* ) Wieder zum Brita-Filter... Ich bin begeistert. Ich entkalke bzw. reinige meinen Wasserkocher ohnehin regelmäßig, daher kann ich nun gar nicht sagen, wie oft man ihn benutzen kann bis einmal Kalk sichtbar wird. Aber es gab schon stressige Zeiten in denen ich es einfach nicht geschafft habe Essig oder so zu kaufen und der Wasserkocher auf Hochtouren lieg (gerade im Winter), jeden Tag zwei Kannen Tee gekocht und nach 3 Wochen nur ganz geringe Rückstände im Wasserkocher, sonst war er nach einmal kochen direkt komplett weiß... Was wünscht man sich mehr? Klar, die Filterleistung lässt nach einer Zeit etwas nach. Gerade wenn man sehr viel filtert. Aber deshalb sollte man die Filter auch nach 4 Wochen wechseln. Wobei ich mich hier frage woran das festgelegt wird. Woher will Brita wissen ob ich im Monat 5 Kannen Tee koche oder 70? Irgendwann hat man auch keine Lust mehr eine Strichliste zu führen :-D Frage mich halt auch ob sich da nicht doch auch einige Bakterien im Filter sammeln?! Das Wasser wird ja nicht immer nur gekocht benutzt. Ich wechsel meinen Filter je nach Nutzung ab und an auch schon nach 2-3 Wochen. Im Sommer, bei seltener Nutzung war er auch mal eine Woche länger drin... Klar, sie könnten günstiger sein, aber sonst mit ich mit den Filterchen zufrieden.

Diciamocelo subito. Usare un sistema a filtrazione meccanico/chimica come quello di Brita, serve non tanto a risparmiare, ma per la comodità di avere un'acqua di gusto gradevole sempre disponibile ed evitare l'utilizzo (e lo spreco) di innumerevoli bottiglie di plastica PET (oltre il problema del peso e trasporto, c'è il problema dello smaltimento della plastica). Conviene prendere le confezioni da 12 cartucce Brita. Si ottiene il miglior rapporto quantità/prezzo. Il prezzo ad unità viene ad essere poco meno di 4€.Sono ormai 3 anni che uso queste cartucce. E' arrivato il momento di parlarne. Confezione (voto 6,5): la confezione, pur sembrando di cartone sufficientemente rigido, ha il malus di non aver nessuna protezione interna tra cartuccia e cartuccia. La giudico poco più che sufficiente. La casa, a mio avviso, dovrebbe frapporre tra cartuccia e cartuccia della plastica schiumata per un minimo di ammortizzamento. Spesso ho sentito di incrinazioni di cartucce dovute ad un trasporto maldestro. Quindi, come consigliato da tanti, al momento della verifica, consiglio pure io di controllare toccando ogni cartuccia. Le plastiche laterali devono essere intatte o ci potrebbe essere fuoriuscite di materiale filtrante con logica perdita della cartuccia. Oltre alle 12 cartucce chiuse una ad una, non vi è null'altro. Ogni cartuccia riporta le istruzioni di attivazione della stessa. Sull'esterno troviamo altre spiegazioni sulle peculiarità delle cartucce filtranti. Le cartucce sono prodotte in svizzera con tecnologia e design tedeschi. Qualità costruttiva (voto 7): è la cartuccia filtrante per antonomasia. La Brita è il principale brand e punto di riferimento di questo settore di mercato (dal 1966 fondata da Heinz Hankammer). La tecnologia Maxtra, con rilascio di magnesio, dà un beneficio in più all'acqua. La struttura filtrante delle cartucce è un mix di carbone attivo, resine a scambio ionico e magnesio aggiunto. Il tutto miscelato e non a strati come si potrebbe credere. Non date retta a chi dice che si possono ricaricare queste cartucce. I carboni attivi si trovano, le resine a scambio ionico no. Non si risparmia sulla qualità, fidatevi. Le cartucce hanno un rivestimento in plastica ABS di colore bianco adatte al contatto con gli alimenti. L'anello superiore serve per una corretta estrazione dall'alveolo apposito nelle caraffe. La cartuccia va anche sulle caraffe della Laica ad esempio (testato personalmente). Nella parte retrostante troviamo due fori di uscita con una microgriglia per l'ultima filtrazione meccanica e per trattenere la polvere dei carboni attivi. La cartuccia risulta essere totalmente reciclabile. Alla prova dei fatti (voto 8): ho scelto, per un consumo più omogeneo (l'acqua filtrata cambia di gusto lievemente se filtrata da poco o lasciata riposare per qualche ora, lo sapevate?) ho acquistato la caraffa Brita XXL Optimax da 8.5 litri. Questa unità bisogna conservarla in frigo. Per la ricarica basterà semplicemente avere una prolunga dal rubinetto della cucina per riemprila agevolmente. L'idea è molto pratica e, sicuramente, essendo conservata in frigo, la cartuccia avrà meno problemi a tenere a bada possibili proliferazioni batteriche. Ricordate che l'acqua una volta filtrata perde il cloro, quindi è più esposta ai batteri. Consumatela con regolarità (così non avrete problemi) e cambiate la cartuccia appena esaurita. Il costo al litro (escluso l'acquisto della caraffa da 8,5 litri) in un anno è di 0,043€/litro. Mica male no? Attivazione cartucce: il procedimento è semplice. Prima di tutto mi raccomando una perfetta pulitura della caraffa da fare con acqua e bicarbonato (qualcuno potrebbe usare pure qualche goccia d'aceto, ma personalmente non lo faccio). Ciò serve per impedire la formazione di incrostazioni all'interno del bacino con acqua ancora non trattata. Ovviamente le incrostazioni non si formeranno sul fondo, ma una lavata è consigliabile almeno ad ogni cambio di cartuccia. La cartuccia, una volta aperta, lasciatela totalmente immersa sotto acqua per 30 minuti. Un consiglio, una volta immersa, pigiate ai lati la cartuccia e rivoltatela: così uscirà l'aria e la cartuccia resterà sommersa. Passati 30 minuti tiratela fuori dall'acqua e scuotetela per bene. Ora installate la cartuccia e filtrate 3 volte (io esagero con 5 filtrazioni). Ora la cartuccia è pronta. Altri due consigli: lasciate sempre sommersa la cartuccia (ciò evita la possibile formazione di batteri al suo interno) e non spruzzate mai direttamente il getto d'acqua sulle griglie superiori della cartuccia. Nota mia personale : io ci ho aggiunto un sistema di gassificazione con CO2 alimentare e bombola da 4Kg. Tutto ciò mi costa al litro un aggiunta di 0,02€/litro e una ricarica da 18€ di CO2 mi dura per 9 mesi circa. Direi che il risparmio è discreto e in qualche anno ammortizzerò costo di caraffa/bombola/gasatore aiutando, inoltre, l'ambiente. Pro: - risparmio su costo dell'acqua minerale e risparmio ecologico (niente plastica da buttare); - la cartuccia è riciclabile al 100%; - qualità dell'acqua Brita e gusto gradevole; - niente più pesanti bottiglie da trasportare. Contro: - come tutte le cartucce, le prime volte bisogna adattarsi all'acqua microfiltrata. La Brita ha, comunque, sicuramente il gusto migliore tra le cartucce sul mercato. Concludendo, non posso che consigliare un prodotto simile a tutti, per qualità e comodità. Certo ci sono tante cartucce di concorrenza, ma, almeno qui, si va sul sicuro. Nel caso tutte le foto non vengano pubblicate (al momento c'è un problema nell'upload sul sito di Amazon.it), o il video abbia problemi di compressione, vi invito a leggere il primo commento per visualizzare le foto in 4K e il video in FullHD. Uso la caraffa, e i filtri, Brita ormai da diversi anni. Mi sono sempre trovata benissimo, zero calcare residuo in pentola e tè e tisane sono più limpidi e gustosi. Il tutto senza l'ingombro e la spesa dell'acqua in bottiglia. Leggermente più costosi, se si calcola il singolo, rispetto alla confezione da 6, ma meno rispetto a quella da 3. Ho scelto questa soluzione, sinceramente, per raggiungere i 29,00 euro di spedizione gratuita in combinazione con un altro oggetto. La prossima volta prenderò sicuramente il pack da 6. Arrivato due giorni prima del previsto, ho da fare però, questa volta, un appunto sul confezionamento. Sicuramente sarà stata una svista, e non è successo nulla di grave, ma mancava lo scotch di carta con la filigrana in plastica a chiudere il tutto, chiunque avrebbe potuto aprirlo con facilità, semplicemente aprendo le alette laterali del pacco, e farmi trovare la "sorpresa di pasqua".
