Snark ST2 Clip-On Chromatic ALL INSTRUMENT TUNER

I bought this mainly for using with my violin. The vibration setting picks up the physical vibrations when clipped to the instrument itself. This means that outside noises like voices or other instruments are not picked up so gives an accurate reading of your own instrument. With a violin you clip it to the peg box so it is easy to see whilst tuning. It is very light and has a curved arm and two ball and socket joints so will adjust to many angles. The clip has soft rubber feet so will not damage your instrument.The acoustic / microphone setting picks up sound. I love this for training my ear and improving my playing pitch and accuracy. I clip it to the top of my music stand and can see it as I play without having to take my eye off the sheet music. This is brilliant for bowed strings as there are no frets to guide the finger placement. It is helping me improve. It also has a simple flashing metronome which probably wouldn't help much for really tricky bits but is great for just getting the tempo right.

I was recommended this model to allow for different tuning on an electric guitar.Out of the box and for standard tuning, it’s a great bit of kit. Easy to get it on and the display is really clear, day and night. From an accuracy point of view, it is the best I have used to date. There is a warning inside, and in other reviews here, about damage to the coating of guitar if the unit is left on all the time. For me, there is an easy solution to that.I haven’t given it 5 stars due to the flexibility of tuning. The whole reason I was looking for a digital tuner was to allow different tuning, dropped D or half down etc. While the tuner will do this for you, it reads the tuning as a htz value so you need to know these for the tuning you want rather than like other tuners where you select the alternative and tune the guitar.All in all, a really good product.

Great tuner and number 1 tuner for a reason.Not like some of the other cheaper ones that are clip-on this one has some differences.Firstly not only can it work on vibration to tune it also has, and this is the major difference between it and the cheaper ones, a microphone built in! This is what that extra 2 or 3 pound gets and that's why it is vastly superior in my opinion.From opening you can see and feel it is very well made and the clip is very soft and will not damage your instrument.The actual round display size is a little larger then a 2 pound coin so it's not in the way.Another point is it has a metronome built in! (Visual, flashing one that is speed adjustable).Display is clear and can tune many instruments. Great for custom tunings on your guitar also.Great product and I got the St-2 for the price of 12 pounds instead of 15! Really happy with it.Push the boat out and spend an extra 2 or 3 quid and get this little beauty. Comes with a nice little bag also. You'll be happy you did!!

Great little item

Easy to use, clamps easily on to my ukulele headstock. Easy to rotate viewer to get just the right angle as you’re tuning. I think it’s fair to say that Snark tuners are pretty much a go to for string players. I got this slightly more expensive “All instrument tuner” as it has the option of tuning by string vibration, or using the actual sound- it’s showing you the note it “hears” I think this will be useful if I switch to a low G string on my ukulele, and can also use it on my guitar.

Deze tuner is de eerste die werkt voor de F# snaar op mijn baritone, en tevens de eerste die goed werkt voor de lage "B" snaar op mijn 5-snaar bas.

Llegó bastante rápido. Tuve una versión anterior y esta parece estar mejorada. Excelente calidad y precisión. La opción para afinar en un mayor rango que 430-445hz está super bien. Realmente es un gran afinador, bueno, bonito y barato. Cumple perfectamente las expectativas.

Da ich täglich Konzertgitarre spiele und Nylonsaiten sich leider schnell verstimmen, ist ein guter Tuner wichtig, wenn man sich nicht nur aufs Gehör verlassen will (sollte man aber zusätzlich auch unbedingt lernen). Ich habe schon viele Apps und Tuner ausprobiert und entweder brauchen sie ewig, bis sie reagieren oder sie sind viel zu ungenau, was dann wiederum auch mein Gehör merkt. Der Snark ist der erste, der sofort anspricht. Man kann ihn auf Vibration oder Mikro stellen. Er erkennt die Saite, ohne zu schwanken (auch ein Problem vieler Tuner) innerhalb von Sekunden. Durch die farbige Anzeige ist er gut ablesbar und durch den schwenkbaren Hals auch verstellbar. Ob der Hals auf Dauer stabil ist, kann ich noch nicht beurteilen, macht aber einen guten Eindruck. Er ist klein und die Klammer hält endlich auch mal an etwas breiteren Kopfplatten, was auch immer ein Problem war. Ich überprüfe nach dem Stimmen trotzdem immer auch noch mal über das Gehör, denn manchmal stellt man dann fest, dass noch Feinabstimmungen notwendig sind. Beim Snark ist das nur selten noch nötig. Also kauft nicht die allerbilligsten Tuner, sie sind meist nicht sehr genau und sprechen schlecht an. Der Snark ist den Preis auf jeden Fall wert.
