Because car key fobs are quite large these days, the tin is too shallow for key fob rings above 15mm diameter to sit flat within the tin. It is still usable but the lid can't close properly.

I wanted this box as a small RFID shield for a car key. I have tried it with a key in it and I can conform that the box afforded insufficient shielding. I then wrapped the key in a small piece of aluminium kitchen foil and got perfect results. My guess is that the box is not made of aluminium but of mild steel coated with something. I have no analysis of the materials of which it is made but the rolled edges and hinges of the lid, which can be seen clearly in the photograph, point in that direction.

Worked fine for few months and then degraded. Doesn’t offer protection to my keyless car fobs anymore

just an expensive tin. Quite small and make absolutely no difference regarding the operation of keyless entry.
