The Crochet Bible: The Complete Handbook for Creative Crocheting

Good basic book
This book is excellent if you want to learn how to crochet. It explains all of the stitches, tells you about various fibers and has projects that are quite useful and good looking. There are well written instructions for increasing and decreasing stitches, working in the round, getting your tension correct, making button holes and much more. I looked at a number of basic books before picking this one out and use it as a reference book all the time. Instructions in the stitch library and in the projects are written out as well as shown in a chart so you can learn how to read a chart without too much trial and error.

useful book
this is a useful book in that it provides pictures for most stiches that you need to know how to use, however i found that in some of the more complex patterns there is stitches written down yet no instruction on how to create them. none the less this book is good for showing how to do trims, crochet-ing in a row etc, flowers...

Good Reference Guide
I bought this because the only crochet I had done before was granny squares some 40 years ago and wanted to try something different. I love being able to dip in and find instructions for the things I don't know and the project ideas are a good inspiration to try something. I am not a complete beginner stitch wise but have no idea about shaping and making bigger items. So far it has proved very useful and to be honest I just love flipping through it and thinking about what I am going to attempt next as its all so interesting.

One of the best books I have
This is one of the very best crochet books I have. It gives detailed instructions about making the various stitches and extra tips along the way. Each process is accompanied by an appropriate project.Although I am not a beginner I have enjoyed reviewing the instructions and tips. There is always something new to learn and you feel that the author has oodles of experience to impart. Not just a series of patterns but a real guide to learning/improving your technique.

I love this book!
I've recently taken up the hook again after a 20+ year gap and this book is superb for explaining the basics again through to more complicated stitches. I'd say my competency is that of a beginner/intermediate and there are easy to follow patterns and plenty of tips to produce a more finished result. The more complicated stitches are so well illustrated and explained that I'm inspired to try more complex projects. Love this book.

Awesome book!
I borrowed this book from the local library, and renewed a couple of times too.It was such a benefit to have, so I had to order it and add to my home collection. It's been a while since I had done any crochet, and needed to make a baby blanket...or two. This book's instructions were easy to follow, with several different stitches to learn, and a picture of each stitch in block photos. It has a wide variety of things one could crochet, from baby booties and hat, mittens, sweaters, a stuffed bunny, adult hats, shawl, a really cool looking Peruvian style bag, child's sweater, and the list goes on.Sue Whiting has a few books out. This one is a keeper.I always try to borrow books from the library first, so I know if it's what I am looking for, and I don't end up with something that doesn't suit my needs. This truly is a great book, and I can't imagine anyone being disappointed in it.

The Crochet Bible by Sue Whiting
This book arrived in great shape and on time. It is a comprehensive and easy to understand book on crochet techniques. It starts you out easy, with beginning instructions and moves you into more decorative ways to use your hook. Then it gives a library of stitches and about 24 projects to work on if you so desire. It is a good book to have that will help grow your skills in crochet.

crocheting fun
This book was quite helpful with learning the basic techniques. I did have to reference the videos on the internet for some additional how-to help, but for the most part this book does a good job of showing a beginner how to work the different stitches. My favorite part is the stitch reference at the back of the book. It explains and reviews all of the stitches in the book and patterns, so it is a quick way to refresh your memory or get creative with adding your own flair to a piece. I also think that the book has a good mix (including hats, belts, shawls, stuffed animals, scarves, mittens, sweaters, etc) of beginner and easy level patterns. I also appreciated the combination of real picture images and drawn diagram images for showing the different techniques- it is a good way to break the instruction down. On the whole, I would purchase this book again.

Great book
Great crochet book. Lots and lots Of patterns. Shawls, baby clothes, adult clothes and other projects. I haven't tried any if the patterns yet. But my daughter has and said the patterns are easy to follow. Only flaw. You need to understand the conversation from British terms to USA terms. A bit different with some term of some stitches than the USA.
