I'm an electrician by trade, I'm usually a Milwaukee tool guy, but I wanted to mix things up a little bit with my tool platform. The Dongcheng brand gives me nostalgia, because I lived in China for ten years and was quite a tool junkie back then. Dongcheng is a well established brand in China, I've used some of their power tools in the past and wasn't disappointed by them. When I picked this rotary hammer up for the first time, I could feel that it is well built, it's probably not at the same level as Milwaukee, Bosch or Hilti, but it seems like a quality rotary hammer none the less. Dongcheng is offering a 5 year limited warranty on their tools, which tells me that they stand behind their tools. I paid for next day delivery and it was here on the next day. Shipping was fast, build quality is seems good, warranty is good and it came with everything as advertised. I highly recommend buying into the Dongcheng line of tools if you want a decent quality tool for a lower price than the big box stores. The only thing against this tool so far is that it says "Dongcheng" in English, not the red letter "东城" that I'm used to seeing on the sides of the tools, but I guess that's for the foreign market. I really hope Dongcheng starts selling their tools in stores here, I miss walking into Dongcheng shops and checking out the tools that they have...

Runs like a champ. Pounds rebar into degenerate granite. Breaks up cement. Powerful. Batteries are big. Instead of calling China our enemy maybe our politicians should study what China is doing right. Singapore is their model. This company makes a lot of other brands as well. From the battery it looks like they might be making Milwaukee tools.

As a first time sds user am impressed with the power of sds bits to penetrate concrete compared to a regular cordless hammer drill with chuck. The possible drawback of not accepting regular bits can be overcome by getting an sds drill chuck adapter for non hammer use only. Could drill about 10 1/2"x6"deep holes in hammer drill mode before the battery was down to 50% or 2 out 4 LEDs. This is probably when I am ready for a break. The charger shows a red light when charging, green steady when charged, and green blinking when battery is removed. The battery 4 bar led is a nice indicator of remaining charge. Like almost all tool brands this uses a unique style of battery. It would be an advantage if you could interchange batteries.
