The John Wayne Paramount Collection(DVD)
This collection of "The Duke"is a great collection of all that was speical from John Wayne. A real cross section of some of the wonderfull films that he did.some real "good get on your horse"ones including Hondo & True Grit,Hartari set in Africa,a cracking adventure, Island in the Sky set in northen labrador. A total of 14 DVD's each as good as the last. Well worth the money,as considered cheap for the hours of entertainment this collection gives. Anyone who is a fan will be more than pleased with this collection.Totally recommened Five stars.

review of the box set
brought this DVD box set with some spare money I had. very satisfactory none of the DVDs are scratched but be careful with how you unwrap the pox when you get it because the box is very flimsy and some of the DVDs may have come loose. I suggest that when yours arrives that you check all of the DVSs to see if they are scratched. and also put the DVDs in a protective casing.

Waynes World
When The Duke died so did the Western as a genre. I know there are those who disparage Wayne's acting ability but for real western fans the name John Wayne virtually guarentees satisfaction. Few other than Stewart and Eastwood could approach his ability to carry a heroic storyline to its almost inevitable conclusion without causing yyou to cease suspending your disbelief.

Brilliant
My 4/5 was because of the poor package design. This is not down to amazon but those who put the collection together. Why would you put together a film collection with loose films.Besides all that I cant fault this collection and brings back memories of my days of being a youngster and spending time with my grandfather who loved John Wayne.The Duke was up there with Hollywoods finest and i am sure his movies will still be shown in the decades to come. It really is a great collection and prolonging the memories of what John Wayne gave.

The best choice.
It's the essential John Wayne box set though it doesn't contain 'the conqueror'.Still the best though.

Packaging
Received the box-set today well packaged, the only thing is that the DVD's are not in the usual type of cases they are not clipped into plastic holders as normal, they are in slots in the cover and they were rattling around luckily none of them were scratched.

Don’t waste your money
BEWARE. Many of the reviews attached to this set seem to be about another, different collection.This actual set is so low definition/poor transfer quality as to be unwatchable. Three of the four discs have 2x53 minute short films and the 4th has the two hour film McClintock. See photo for details.Will have to bin mine as would feel too guilty if anyone else bought them from a charity shop etc!

Vital info left out of ad.
No where was there info stating the discs were UK formatted. They use PAL format, while the US uses NTSC format. They are NOT compatible. The box doesn't even state the format type. It's only when you look on the discs is the UK format stated. What a disappointed. My wife bought the set for me for Christmas. They were returned the day after Christmas.
