Firstly, I purchased this product at the Amazon price, and am not in the luxurious position of reviewing a freebieI am a big lover of digital scales, unfortunately my last set kept eating batteries for fun (button cell) and as it was a one piece, ie not having a platform read significantly differing weights when item was placed on separate parts of the platform... with this in mind, I had a few small requirements when buying, 1 was to have the ability to measure liquid as well as dry goods, the other was to have a dedicated weighing platform, this item fitted the bill, and along with the positive reviews and price looked a viable option.... the fact it takes standard AAA batteries is an added bonus goods arrived a day later than expected, fulfilled by Amazon, so cannot blame the seller for this, however, well packaged with the scales protected by polystyrene and inside a box with a snazzy little etekcity motif.... batteries were installed and required a little plastic isolator strip to be removed.... scales feel pretty sturdy and look nice in a stainless type finish, on turning on the buttons feel nice and clicky, whilst a back-light behind the LCD display illuminates making it easier to read, a point worth noting too, the display figures are of a considerable size, thus making it a lot easier to read than some of the competitors.... if no interaction is made the back-light switches off, but reignites when you place something on the scales, if no interaction is made the unit switches off... these are both to conserve battery power and not a fault... unit can also be switched off by holding the Tare / on button..... the left hand button allows you to switch between dry, water and milk, with the right hand being for tare so you can zero the unit before adding additional ingredients... to switch beteen metric (gr, ml) and imperial (lb, oz, fl oz) there is a small plastic button on the underside... also placing your bowl on the platform before switching on will make the unit start at ) without having to press the tare button only used a couple of times, once to test with an egg (I have my own hens and occasionally weigh the eggs to keep an eye on production)... I moved the egg all around the platform and it gave identical results of 65gr every-time, same egg on my older scales read between 54 and 59gr depending on position on platform.. so something definitely wrong there.... I have a pretty good eye and can normally tell the size of an egg within a few gr just by looking (several years of experience, I agreed more with the etekcity scales than my previous.... the second was to make a fruit loaf, this involved using dry, water and milk (recipe in Panasonic bread maker book), the scales zero'd after every press of the tare button, and seemed to cope easily with the mixture of ingredients... the loaf turned out well so can assume the scales did their job effectively.... would I recommend, big YES at this moment in time, such a pleasure to have scales that do not switch off half way through (even with new battery), weigh consistently and do not require glasses or extra light to read... I have spent more on bigger brand names and been disappointed, these do what they are designed to do

Unfortunately mine was faulty and by the time i got round to using it id passed the Amazon return time. This week I came across it and the warranty card, so contacted Etekcity direct and told them about my problems. Next day i had an email asking for details of the problems, they also wanted my Amazon order no some pictures & a video of how the scale was performing. I replied the same day. Next day i had an email containing invoice details and it outlined that there was a replacement on the way. It arrived 2 days later from Amazon. That was yesterday. The customer service from them was amazing it didnt even take a week. Im looking forward to using the scale as it seems easy to go between metric & imperial, as thats the way i work. Will post again once ive used it.

I've been wanting some scales for my kitchen for a while but never got round to getting any. At first I didnt even consider digital ones so when I saw these I was quite impressed as they look slick, smart and compact, just what I need to fit into my kitchen size and decor. The stainless steel not only makes them look like a good gadget, it also makes them super easy to clean - which is good for someone like me who makes a mess when I'm cooking/baking. The scales came packaged in a nice neat little box, protected by a bag and polystyrene on each side to stop it getting damaged in transit, with some instructions. These are not needed, simply check the batteries in (that was a nice surprise - thanks!), click on the On button and the display comes on. The light and display is really easily readable and bright making it easy to see what the numbers are and mode is. You can switch the mode to suit which units you would prefer to measure in and then simply place whatever your weighing on the scale and the display tells you how much it weighs. Simple as that. Wonderful little scale, great addition to anyones household!I received this product at the discounted price in exchange for a honest review.

Neat, tidy and easy to store. Clear figures and easy to use

I received this kitchen scale at a promotional offer for an honest and unbiased opinion and I must say that I am quite pleased and delighted to have it. The cool attractive design in stainless steel looks really stylish for any kitchen and seems durable and easy to clean.The tray is large enough to hold most reasonable sized items and the display too is big, backlit and clear for easy reading. The maximum weight is 5 Kilograms and depending on what you wish to measure, weight or liquid volume (for water or milk), this feature makes the design well suited for its purpose. The scale has pads on the base so it does not slip on the station.USAGE:Simply place your container (jug or bowl for liquid) on the platform and press Tare/Zero which turns on the scale. Put the item to weigh in the container or directly on the pad and the weight is displayed instantly.Overall, it is a good, handy kitchen item and serves its purpose perfectly. I recommend this as a good deal for the money spent.
