Definitely DOES punch A5 correctly!
Just writing this review to confirm that, despite the updated product description and what a lot of reviewers are saying, this WILL punch A5 with the 19-19-70-19-19mm hole spacing correctly. In order to do this, the "fence" must be withdrawn to the A5 position and the punches being used set to the A5 position, then three holes punched. Next, the paper must be flipped around and the other three punched. As long as you're careful to ensure that the paper remains square and in contact with the rear fence and extendable fence, the hole spacing will be correct.Hope that helps.

Not suitable for big 6 hole binders.
This machine when set up will punch 2 sets of 3 holes with a maximum distance of 50mm between the two groups of holes. The space between the holes in each group is fixed permanently at 19mm the three holes can be set so there is 19mm between the two groups of punches or any distance between 19mm and 50 mm. The sliding plastic strip that centres the punch on the paper has no markings leaving you to work out the setting. Once you've played around with the punch and tried it you get the hang of it. I even managed to punch holes for the paper that was too big for the punch though it was a bit of a problem and put 7 holes in the paper and wasted some sheets. The tool is robustly made and I think it should last a lifetime for most people. There is a clever little lock device which means it stores flatter than if the punch is open ready for use. This means it just fits in my desk draw, if it was fully open it would not fit. More information on the product would have been helpful.

Pretty impressive for the price - other reviews are unkind if instructions are read
When I first read the reviews I was in 2 minds but having got the product I first thought they were true until I downloaded the PDF and found the adjustments required to accurately punch sheets. I use a personal size and once adjusted accordingly it is a very well built heavy piece of kit.Fully adjustable from Pocket to A5 I was very please I went for it.

Not for A5
Punch mechanism works fine & is great if you want to punch smaller documents. For a5 though you have to punch a single page twice, fine if it's needed for a one off but not if you're buying especially for a5

Small
This is a very sturdy hole-punch, smooth, and easy to use. The problem is it’s small. I have three refillable notebooks, all different brands, that I use all the time, hence why I wanted this. I’ve never had trouble finding paper or accessories for these notebooks so I assume they are a fairly standard size. From the 1st to last hole in this punch is about 13cm while the holes on my papers are about 15cm, so make sure it will work for your needs!

Punching a little below its weight...
So, I bought this to be able to create reference pages for a work project. If you are looking for a punch that will make six holes in a single go, this one fits the bill, until...You have A5 pages to punch. The sheets I have are A5 but when I place the punch carriers as far apart as possible... the holes don't line up with my 6-ring folder. But there is a trick.Extend the fence until you have the A5 mark notched in the device.Place the A5 pages in the device with one end of the long side against the stop at the end of the fence.Punch one set of three holes.Remove the paper and flip it around to punch the second set of three holes.Four stars for it not punching the six holes in a single operation and the ease of operation is a little complicated.Five stars for everything else.Happy punching..

For mini & personal sized organisers only
I've been using the Bind T 6001 System for DIN A5, A6 and A7 Metal Hole Punch - Black for a few years. It's the 'industry standard' punch for organiser & stationery enthusiasts and at the time I bought it there was no cheaper option. So at half the price I was excited to try this newer Rapesco punch.First points in Rapesco's favour - it locks (the Bind doesn't), it's 1.5 inches shorter than the Bind and 70 grams lighter. The Rapesco is far better for carrying around if you need to. The Rapesco also has handy guide markers to fit pocket or mini sized organisers. The Rapesco boasts a special confetti flap, to remove the little punched out discs, but it’s useless and doesn’t push back into place well – leaving you at risk of it randomly flapping open and discharging a pile of confetti wherever it feels like. You’re better off just pulling the back off as usual. Both the Rapesco & Bind punches are adjustable, so you can have different spaces between the punched holes. Neither come with instructions (which is a pain), but you pull the back off and slide the metal slips to different positions. The Rapesco is easier to slide than the Bind, but the Rapesco is very limited in the sizes it can punch to.The adjustability is where the Rapesco loses out. It can only punch to Personal or Mini organiser size, no bigger. The distance between the holes can be adjusted, but not to the point where it can be used with bigger organisers, such as A5 or Clipbook size. The Bind adjusts to fit every size on the market. As far as the actual punching goes, the edges left by the Bind are a touch smoother than the Rapesco (and my Bind is at least two years old).Overall, the Rapesco is cheaper and works perfectly for smaller organisers. But if you enjoy your organiser to the point where you want to make your own pages, you’re probably better off with the Bind.
