Amazon information says this piece would fit my unit, a Arctic Cat 500, 4x4, automatic red. But the piece is approximately 2-3 inches short..

Doesn't fit a 2001 500 4x4 as it's too short
Ordered as it says it's compatible with a 2001 arctic cat 500. It's not as its about an inch too short.
