Does the A3 have auto power off so the device goes to standby if no input is received and awakes when required?

A3 have not auto power off function.

If connected via usb, does the pc control the volume or do I need to control the volume using the dial or remote?

On an rpi3 the amp appears fine as a sound device but the dial/remote volume control works independently to the software volume control.

Has anyone connected 2 sets of 8 ohm stereo speakers to this, resulting in a total impedance of 4ohms per channel and does it work?

I have been using a pair of 8ohm Gales and a pair of 8ohm Tannoys. Absolutely fine, great sound, and the A3 doesn't get hot!

If you turn the amp off at the plug and switch it back on does it stay on the same input? Interested in using a smart plug with it
