Don't let it's diminutive size put you off as it packs a punch!
I am absolutely delighted with this wonderfully designed and made Air Compressor. I was a little apprehensive after reading one or two reviews about it, but it exceeds expectations. I have used it today and it worked a treat on both my wife's Suzuki Swift and my Vauxhall Astra Estate. Admittedly not very much air needed to be put in any of the tyres but it performed excellently. The only short coming I can see is the fact that the lead is a little on the short side. I used a connector that I already had that enable me to connect the unit to the battery and it was only just possible to reach the near side rear tyre to put air into that one. I connected the compressor this way because the handbook for the Suzuki did not specify the rating for the cigarette lighter. On the Vauxhall I used a jump starter unit that I have and that has a cigarette lighter point built into it and I thought I might as well try that out as I had never used the jump starter for that purpose before. Although I didn't try it, I am sure that there would have been plenty of the lead supplied with the Airman to reach the rear tyres on both sides if I had used the cigarette lighter. However, using my jump starter unit meant I did not need to start the engine - recommended in the instructions for the Airman. However, even with that the proviso to check what rating the cigarette lighter in your car is before buying the Airman (the rating for the Vauxhall Astra is 10amps and that is what the Airman is rated at) I have absolutely no hesitation in recommending the Airman for anyone who wants a cracking little gadget that can live in the glove compartment! As regards the noise, I actually found it was quieter than the 30 year old unit it replaced. I did not take any notice of the gauge it came with as I already had an accurate pressure gauge of my own. Very little air is lost when screwing the connector on and off the car valve - a tip though, especially when using it on the front tyres, is to wash the wheels especially around the valve and if you have the plastic hub capped wheels instead of alloys, make sure the tyre valve is central to the cutout that accommodates the valve (I took them off the Suzuki and replaced them so that the valve was central to the cutout (you might want to put some gloves on when removing the plastic hub caps as the plastic edges that you grip when removing the hub caps can be quite sharp!). If you don't do this and you've got biggish fingers you may find attaching the connector difficult otherwise, but then again most of the compressors I looked at have the screw on type connectors so that would apply across the board!I hope this review is useful and not too long winded, but I wanted to give my first impressions of the unit. I think that the Airman is well made and hopefully will ultimately prove to be as reliable as my old compressor (that came in a huge case I should add). I love the Airman's size, design and quality.

Compact and easy to use
Bought this as it seemed to offer good value for money rather than opt for one of the rechargeable options that are available as I didn't want to rely on the battery having enough charge when it was needed. This has a lengthy power cord and a clever 12v plug that can be used in both standard cigarette lighter sockets and DIN sockets. Wish I had noticed this earlier as I bought a DIN adaptor separately! My tyres have a poor seal on the wheels so I lose a couple of PSI every couple of days. As a result I have been using this pump a bit of late and found it to do the job quite quickly and the gauge is reasonably accurate too. I have noted that there is some heat build up in the airline after use but not enough to be a concern.

Beware of possible problems with motorcycles.
I purchased this item to inflate tyres on my BMW R1200GS motorbike. This bike has circuit breakers rather than fuses, and it appears to me that running the inflater trips the circuit. When you turn it on, the compressor runs for half a second then stops. Turning the ignition on and off resets it, and it runs for another half second. When I connect it to a power point in my car, the unit performs perfectly and I have tested it twice to inflate my tyres to 2.5 Bar, (about 33 Psi).I obviously can't speak about its reliability as I've only used it twice. The plug is a dual set-up which fits both a motorcycle female and a car female, (the bike type is smaller). There is approx 2 metres of cable which is stored inside the unit, and the hose for inflating the tyres is an adequate length of about 9 inches. The unit is neat and compact and comes in a drawstring bag.I think the fault is an over sensitive circuit breaker on my bike, but it's a thing prospective purchasers will need to consider. You might need to ask a passing car driver to lend you his power socket to inflate your bike tyre.If you are using this to inflate your car tyres you will be fine.

Cheap and cheerful
I usually don’t like to buy cheap stuff as the quality isn’t that good but this is decent for the price. It’s very compact so it will fit in a glove box or maybe even a door pocket. I keep mine in the top box of my motorbike and I carry it everywhere, just in case. The gauge is accurate to which is great as it means no need to carry other measuring devices. It’s very fast to pump up your tyres and means you’ll be in your way in no time. The only issue I might have is the quality of the plastic as it looks like it would break apart if it were dropped. I’ll just make sure I don’t drop it. For the price though even if it did break I’d probably just buy another one to replace it.A very nice touch is the lighter socket plug which is retractable and reveals the smaller DIN plug for use on motorcycles fitted with the DIN socket.I would definitely recommend.

Good compact compressor
Well pleased with this. It's compact, really well built and does the job. Comes with a selection of connectors and it's quick and effective for such a small compressor. Unlike most portable devices the hose and cable actually fold up easily into their storage space and that alone makes in worthwhile. The 12V outlet connector is a struggle to fit into the car's outlet but otherwise no complaints, apart from the nagging emails from the supplier asking for a positive review. It's a good product and would get a good review anyway,so don't do this!

Not the best but does the job
Wanted this for my motorcycle but uses more amp than specify so use it for the car now… stuck with it I presume, does the job but better ones out there . And to take the hose out of it is a pain every time…
