SEIKOMen's SSC909 Prospex Solar Chronograph Watch

Striking and sporty chronograph
I love the racing look of the SSC909 and the two toned bracelet on this limited edition. The dial is a very pale blue on this Crystal Trophy inspired face. It will read as silver in low light, but when it hits the sunlight that elegant blue sun ray really catches your eye. This has a solid stainless steel feel on your wrist and gives Daytona-like vibes through the sapphire crystal. The power reserve read out in the 6 position chrono-minutes sub dial is a nice hidden gem. The chronograph hand sweep has a professional movement. This is not overly large at 39mm. The date window at the 4 o’clock position is so small and dark and recessed that it is practically useless. If you prefer larger, check out the SEIKO SSC935, which is slightly bigger and has better lume on the indexes, but you lose the two tone bracelet. I feel that this would also look fantastic with a black leather rally strap, for those that don’t prefer the metal bracelet.

Very good looking watch
I bought this watch as a gift to myself for my birthday. I love the style and look, the dial looks like a light blue to even a light gray, depending on the light and the chronograph complications are really stellar! This is also my first solar powered watch. I usually collect automatic/mechanical watches but using light as a power source seems like a step up from having to hand wind or needing motion to start a watch ticking! The only downside I've found is the date window is tough to see as its deep within the core of the watch. I read other reviews that said the same and I can confirm the same thing. Nonetheless, I'm very happy with this purchase!

Beautiful dial. TINY pin collars!!
Beautiful dial color, more vibrant in the natural sunlight. Use extra caution to not lose the pin collars when removing a link or adjusting the wristband. They are extremely small and easy to lose. The date is a useless feature on my particular watch. The date number sits too low within the movement to be seen when looking at the dial, it looks more like a square black hole than a date feature. In this photo my camera is only a few inches away from the surface of the watch, hence the better than normal clarity of the date. The watch looks smaller on my 7.75 inch wrist and measures slightly less than 39 mm, otherwise, I’m extremely pleased with the fit and finish of my watch. So far the time keeping is precise which I set to gov.time.

Beautiful watch on a 6.5 wrist
Good fit to my 6.5 inch wrist. The bracelet black links are surprisingly, quite scratch resistant.

It is hard to be objective -I like the watch .
I like the watch , so my opinion is influenced by that fact … The watch is even more beautiful in person than on the picture . The only down side (in my opinion ) is the size of SSC909 model , If I would have to buy it again I would go with SSC909P1 wish is 2.5mm bigger in diameter (around 41.5mm) . Other than that it is a very good looking and very shiny watch .

As advertised, beautiful, unique. The first time I wore several people commented how much they liked it.
