Phantom power comes from the input of my audio interface (to go to mics etc).** A: Hi, DI boxes come in 2 types, passive and active. Passive ones just have a transformer in them and match the level and impedance of an instrument, keyboard or guitar amp to be a signal similar to that produced by a microphone.You can therefore use the DI box to feed almost anything into any mixer or mic pre-amp that would normally take a mic.An active DI has a load of electronics in it but otherwise does exactly the same job as the passive ones. The electronics need power to run.
