NIGHTMARE!!! DO NOT BUY!
UPDATE:DO NOT BUY THIS! THERE ARE SO MANY LITTLE NOOKS AND CRANNIES FOR NASTY LITER TO HIDE! JUST WHEN I THINK I HAVE ALL OF THE NASTINESS OUT, MORE SHOWS UP. IT IS NEARLY IMPOSSIBLE TO KEEP CLEAN. I WOULD RETURN IT IF THEY WILL TAKE IT. IF I COULD GIVE IT -5 STARS I WOULD.I chose this option based on reviews, size and price.I was looking for something to fit in a lower cabinet. It does fit, however I can’t put it in there because the lid has to open upwards thus making it not work in the cabinet.I started by looking at the litter robot which is twice the price and thought this was a cheaper option. Here is another lesson on how you get what you pay for. This is not at all hassle free. Somehow clumps get outside of the barrel and get stuck under thus making a huge nasty smear of ick all around the barrel which is not fun to clean. I have yet to figure out how this is happening. The photo shows this is just starting to happen. To fix this, I will have to remove the barrel, clean the mystery clump up out from under and then clean the outside of the barrel.UPDATE: I bought the guard to stop my cats from throwing the litter out of the box. Also, the litter cleaning part cleans the clumps out but also waists a lot of unclumped litter. I don’t know why the unclumped litter is not going back through the grate where it should. (I keep the litter at the recommended amount.)Finally, my cats absolutely love it. I have 3. They have completely stopped using the other litter box (a scoopfree version). I just wish I would have bought the litter robot instead.

Great Automatic Litterbox 😊
My husband has a weak stomach and gagged when he would clean the old litterbox and I have ADHD and wouldn't have the motivation or energy for it, so this has been a welcomed part of the family. My cat doesn't have to suffer through our crap just to go to the bathroom and it's nice. There's still litter that escapes the drum while it turns, not as much as when the cat would kick litter out of the old box, but still a bit. My cat took a bit to get used to it, she didn't even want to be in the same room. But after she peed in my suitcase to get away from it, I spent a whole day hanging out with her locked in that room and left her in through the night (with food and water, I'm not a monster lol), now she doesn't care /at all/ about the "scary machine", she's hopped in while it was still turning during its last 10 seconds, while it was evening out the litter. LolThere's always going to be some clean up with any literbox, the drum gets pretty dirty when the waste gets dragged up the walls, but about every month, I take the drum off the base and clean the inside. That part gets pretty cumbersome, but not too bad, the drum is light but bulky. The drum kind of hovers when attached to the base, so I usually have to clean the base under the drum and around the outside of the drum too, but it's minimal.Crystal liter was visually cleaner on the inside walls, but the tray didn't look as clean and her urine wasn't clumping so when the drum turned, it only caught her fecal waste and her urine would just spin, so I don't recommend Crystal litter. The unit itself is pretty quiet and I'm still getting used to having an app tell me when to empty it, lol. The deodorizer works great, but it's not magic, the litter will still need to be replaced from time to time, of course. But it's so much easier with this because you just just touch a button, tie up the bag, replace bag, replace litter. SO much better than our old routine. One of the rolls of bags that came with the unit had a tear defect through the whole roll, but it was close enough to the top that I could roll the bag up a bit and secure it under the drum opening without issue. There will be clean up from taking the old bag out, but I just grab our little handheld vaccum and it's all good.I did have a problem that I wrote below, but I was contacted by customer service in the night through Amazon's chat service and they were nice enough to send out a replacement. Their phone number couldn't connect when I called and that scared me, but the chat service worked just fine. Problem is outlined below, though.(Pre-replacement:) Bought this in December 2022 and it quit in the night randomly in July. Nothing is responding even though it's plugged in, the outlet is fine, I even tried other outlets in the house, nothing.

It is a love hate relationship
At first, I really loved this cat box. It seemed to do everything that I needed it to. The automatic feature was great, really helped with the older elimination. As time went on, I started noticing some problems that really irked me and have constantly been having to deal with it. It really isn't as low maintenance as you would hope for but I still think it is better that to have to stay on top of cleaning a cat box the old fashioned way.My biggest issues are the following:When exchanging the box, adding cat litter or anything that requires you to unplug the cat box, the cat box resets itself. This wouldn't be a problem if it didn't consistently stop rotating before it is supposed to. Meaning that the cat box thinks it is centered when it is not. I found that resetting 3 times is the magic number. Big inconvenience but after a while, just became standard.Second is a culmination of a few things. The sides get stained requiring you to clean the box itself more often than I had anticipated, the rubber cap falls off by just rotating and lost it in a bag filled with cat poop and now don't have it.. lol.. didn't notice it was gone until it was too late because I don't look inside the box all that often, just mainly to make sure there is still cat litter in there.Pros: Never have to scoop poop anymore. I have 2 cats and I can leave them be for about a week to a week and a half without changing the bag out. This is great when I go out of town for a few days. Since cats are so independent, it does a great job making sure their bathroom is clean.Quiet.... as long as you make sure the under side of the barrel is clean. It does have a habit of loosing cat litter as it rotates but you could always reuse the litter since its usually uncontaminated.Definitely worth the money IMO given the loss of one star but it has done everything that I needed it to. I know not everything can be perfect but given that it is cheaper than the litter robot and easy to take apart to clean, I really do enjoy this product and have no regrets buying it.
