What a film

This is a great film for all the family. As a 20 year old I was a little sceptical about this film and that it would be another kiddie film but I was very surprised.The film is about an aging Rocker who has failed to make it who then gets kicked out of his band. Being given grief by his best friend's girl friend to start paying rent and not wasting his life away he impersonates his best friend to become a substitute teacher at the best prep school in the country.From this point it focuses around a group of "geeky" school kids who transform into a fairly good band and play an amazing set at the Battle of the Bands.This is a great film Jack Black is brilliant as the teacher; this part just seemed to be perfect for him. There are some great interactions with Joan Cusack who is cast as the school principle. The children seem to be a good bunch musicians and it will be interesting to see if any of the become major performers either acting or music in the future.I would certainly recommend it to anyone, the DVD has a few interesting documentaries which are worth a watch but by no means would I buy the DVD because of them. The film however can more than sell it on its own.

A boy rocker's dream film, really. It's good humour for those almost-teens, managing to be utterly funny and cool without the bad language and sexual references that make so many other films dodgy for this age group. My husband and 12 year old son watched this together on holiday and they thought it was fantastic. It also introduced my son to some rock music from an earlier era, which has been a real bonding experience for him and his dad. For me, the film was nothing more than midly amusing and often over-the-top, but it wasn't made for people like me. This is a film for the aspiring boy rocker (who may lurk inside many people-- even alot of girls out there!)

I absolutely love this film, it takes me right back to my childhood every time I watch it! Yeah it may be a bit cheesy at times, but in a good way. I'd highly recommend it if you're looking for a funny, laid-back family film.As for the delivery, I was very pleasantly surprised. I ordered this DVD late on a Wednesday night, choosing standard delivery and it arrived the next morning. My estimated delivery date was placed somewhere between Monday-Weds the next week, so it was a nice surprise!

I am not a great lover of Jack Black, though I thought he was decent enough in 'High Fidelity.' Here he takes centre stage and the role is pitch - perfect for him. He may be a’ one trick pony’ but he excels here in what is a thoroughly enjoyable juvenile rock romp. The children’s acting is unbelievably mature and Joan Cusack, as the headmistress, is eye-catchingly good, as is Sarah Silverton, as the anti-Jack flat mate. Yes, I know there are a few hammy moments and the music is dreadful, but hell, I damn well enjoyed it and found the whole thing quite an uplifting experience. It does you good occasionally to watch something which is, well, … just a bit daft and silly! - It’s good for the soul!The film was a huge success, quadrupling its budget, grossing an impressive 130 million$ - about the same as Woody Allen’s ‘Manhattan!’

Great film. Arrived quickly. Well packed. Bought to watch again but this time with my grandchildren. I already loved it but pleased they did too. We had a lovely afternoon together "Rockin Out" :-) Thank you.

Had never seen this movie before, but had heard good reports about it. My son and daughter both recommended it to me, saying I would enjoy it. They were right, it was much better than I expected.

Absolutely amazing rock soundtrack and the film is just always delicious to watch... I'm a huge Jack Black fan ! He's just so my personality!!! Dont miss out on this! You'd be mad !

Jack Black does good playing a role that is very near and dear to his heart. We know he loves music and this movie shows just how much. I enjoyed every aspect of this movie. A great story with good acting. If you like Jack Black or just like music in general, this movie should not be missed. Enjoy and Rock on!

A old film still to have in our collection ! What a classic and Jack Black is so funny, Great on that guitar too. :) ;)
