At last, I can play Earthbound for £70 the way it's meant to be played, and I get hundreds of games free!
What an amazing piece of kit. You will not believe how cute and detailed this console is until you get to see it for yourself. I was expecting it to be good, but not as good as this! The pads alone in this NEW condition are worth £80, then you have the games, 21 in total. Contra 3: The Alien Wars Donkey Kong Country EarthBound Final Fantasy 3 F-Zero Kirby Super Star Kirby's Dream Course The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past Mega Man X Secret of Mana Star Fox Star Fox 2 Street Fighter 2 Turbo: Hyper Fighting Super Castlevania 4 Super Ghouls 'n Ghosts Super Mario Kart Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars Super Mario World Super Metroid Super Punch-Out!! Yoshi's Island Amazing eh? Considering these games cost like £8 each on the Wii/Wii U virtual console, totalling £160, and you get an amazing console and perfect pads with the ability to add hundreds of roms on the consoles 300mb storage makes it absolutely essential! Forget buying the Switch for your kids, let them share some of your great memories on the couch playing with their dad/mother, priceless :) Seriously, kids of any age will love it, games like Super Tennis have never been surpassed by any Tennis Sim yet, and provides amazing 2 player action. You can power the console from a USB socket on your TV(if you have one) is so convenient. The controller leads can be extended for about £8 for 2 extension cables. Any USB socket can power it, if you want to hook it up to your PC or use a USB plug if you don't have a spare socket. Pros: Looks Amazing emulation, easily the best I've experienced yet Add a huge amount of ROMs you want Perfect replicated pads Convenient power cable Cheap pad extensions cables if needed Some amazing classics included on console Looks beautiful Will only rise in price, good investment(not that you'd sell it!) Save game anytime Rewind gameplay if you make a mistake on Super Ghouls and Ghosts for instance Stunning build quality for price Awesome user interface that kids can easily use, puts modern consoles to shame Cons Short pad cables as standard No decent sports game as standard Have to press reset on console to save/rewind or choose different game No option to stretch game to fullscreen Have to pull the original gamepad sockets out to plug in pads which deters from the look while in use As you can see, most of the cons can be sorted. With many handheld/mini emulator 3rd party consoles available not one is worth buying due to crappy emulation/pads/power plugs needed. crap build quality this is in a different league and saves the hassle of having to get your old snes out and having to buy expensive(like Earthbound) to actually experience. This is a stunning piece of kit, I just love it. I just hope with every ounce of my being that Sega release my favourite 16bit console, the Megadrive, in mini form as that would be my perfect gaming setup. Buy it now while cheap, and thank me later.

Great mini console, I just wish it had more games
Better than the NES Mini in my opinion because I prefer SNES games over NES games. I love both though. It's great this comes with two pads which are great. Note the plastic on the pads is slightly textured compared to the smoother plastic of the originals from the 90's. No issues, just felt a bit weird to me at first. If you haven't held a SNES pad since the 90's you won't notice it. It doesn't come with an AC power adapter, but you can buy one easily enough for under £10 if needed, even an official Nintendo one. My TV's USB socket works for me. To make playing the games more convenient, and have instant access to the reset button, I purchased both a 3 metres HDMI cable (Amazon Basics) and a 3 metres USB to Micro USB cable). This means I can play the SNES Mini from my sofa and bring the console with me. I can then easily access the reset button without having to get up and walk to the TV or sitting right up close to the TV. Essential for games where you need to make liberal use of save states (I'm looking at you Super Ghouls n Ghosts and Contra III !!). If you can get this at close to RRP I can highly recommend it. Don't pay the stupid inflated prices re-sellers are asking for. Nintendo have stated more stock is on its way, so try and hold out.

The jump from the NES to SNES is outstanding
Coming from the NES, it's outstanding. The jump in graphics alone was enough to shout about, but when you've got such classic games, the console really comes into its own. There are ways of adding more games to this, although it's not legal and i've not done so myself - but the games that are included are fantastic. I've fully completed Earthbound in approx 22-23 hours. That alone has probably paid for the price of the console! What else can you do for approx £2 an hour?! I've got plenty more gems to play. Everything from the music to gameplay of these classics is just pure fun. You get the console, two controls, beautiful box/instructions manual, and then the console itself. Whilst it's true the console is merely an emulator, the official retro-looking controls feel utterly fantastic. Old-school Nintendo quality at its best. Can't recommend this enough!!!

most likely the presents that gets people of any age excited.
I gave this one to my father in law. He is 70. He used to play the various Mario games back in the 90's and he really enjoyed it. My nephew also played the various 2 player games and he was very enthusiastic about it. Most interesting was my brother in-law who I watched playing hours of Megaman X and finishing it a couple of times! The whole family, 3 generations, all being super happy with the console. The controllers are sturdy and have the same great feel with the original. The cables are a bit short. The unit itself feels sturdy feels like is built to last. Please do note you need to provide power as there is no adaptor, any old micro-USB phone charger should do. If you are looking to buy something more specific a raspberry-pi adapter will do nicely as well. One feature which I would like to have is to be able to open the console's menu from the controller rather than having to press the 'Reset' button. I will try to remember some of the most interesting games now (might miss the exact titles), the Metroid is a really atmospheric puzzle-driven platformer which could be called an action-adventure today, Megaman X - high octane platformer, fantastic music Kirby - super cute platformer especially child friendly, Kirby "golf simulator" - wacky and funny, Super Mario World 2, classic platformer (quite hard) Yoshi's island (Super Mario World 3), fantastic platformer, balanced difficulty, amazing amazing visuals! Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo, for those epic duels, Super Ghouls and Ghosts (unforgiving platformer), Contra 3 (unforgiving run-n-gun platformer), a classic Zelda adventure, Mario Cart, Star Fox and Star Fox 2 (plain polygons space shooter), Donkey Kong Land 2, straightforward platformer, nice for the 2 player cooperative option Final Fantasy III and Secret of Mana, incredible Square Enix turn based and action RPGs, Mario RPG, Castlevania, Type R, and some more that I can't recall at the moment. All in all, money for hours of fun and the nostalgia effect is great. However as a parent I would like to see some parental options, eg. restrict some games from the children and also restrict how many hours they can play during a 24h period. Given how advanced are the parental controls of other Nintendo platforms, even the handhelds, I would expect they don't skimp on that but they did. This is why I put a 4 star on this otherwise awesome device.

Gaming of old revisited
Talk about a major dose of nostalgia. So far this has been a lot of fun, I'd say most of the 21 games on here I've actually not played, there are only a handful I did play and own back in the day. So trying out Super Castlevania IV was fun, anyway the games are varied genres and obviously some have 2 player, such as Mario Kart, Street Fighter II Turbo etc. So it is a tone of fun, the console fits in the palm of your hands and comes with two controllers, an HDMI connection and a USB power lead, which concerned me initially, however you can plug the USB end into your TV if it is USB compatible and power it that way, as I do, or buy a USB adapter plug Nintendo is selling, I can't say if a USB phone plug adapter would work as I haven't tried mine. All in all so far I've had no problems, beyond teaching my brain how to play these classics, and if you are an old school gamer like myself, then this may be worth a look, I do hope we see a mini Nintendo 64 at some point also, I'd be having that too

Used product
I am appalled by the condition of the product, especially given the cost of £299.99. It is absolutely unacceptable to receive an item that appears to have been used and abused before being re-sent. This is extremely frustrating and disappointing.

A glorious trip down memory lane
Ahhh, the 90's. Oasis, raving all weekend and playing on my trusted Super Nintendo. What a glorious time to be alive! There was always that perennial school playground argument, Megadrive or SNES but that was never really a contest was it? What a machine! And now we have it as a lovely little version (im talking the UK/ EU version here, not that purple monstrosity from the US) with the original sized controllers. Games are brilliant although there were so many great titles released for the machine, people are bound to be disappointed at the ones which didn't make the cut. Personally aside from Zelda, Mario World, Mario Cart etc, the one game that sticks with me the most is Castlevania 4. Wow, having not played that game in about 25 years, it almost brought a tear to my eye, what a wonderful nostalgia trip! I got it for £70, what a bargain. If you were a SNES baby, you owe it to yourself to buy it.
