RØDE SC3 3.5mm TRRS to TRS Adaptor, Modem

My clients can have a wide range of audio gear, and this connector has been a real boon! Lots of consumer grade lav mics are TRRS terminated with the mic pin being the extra notch on the connector, and these WILL NOT WORK in TRS socketed Video Cameras. NOT AT ALL. This little adaptor allows your client to use the lav mic they know and love, and you can "invisibly" adapt it to your setup. The cable feels really thin and weak, but I have other SC3s that stood up to years of abuse, and they still work great!

It was cheaper than other such procts. So I was bit sceptical. But works very well.

I like that this is a certified product being made obviously by rode. I have used previous brands in the past for my lav microphones to my a6500 and I also hear a little hiss in my video that I have to clean up in post. I do not have that issue with this adapter so it means a much quicker edit for clients and youtube! Well done RODE!

This adapter cable has a fairly specific purpose - adapt a microphone designed for a smartphone TRRS jack (e.g. a SmartLav+, or other headset compatible microphones designed for smartphone use), into a TRS jack (more commonly seen in mic inputs on computers, audio recorders, cameras etc). It does that perfectly well. But, it's a bit pricey for what it is! It's well enough built - but the cable has with no additional protection (e.g. braiding), the connectors are plastic (which is fine, but not as durable as metal, say). You can be pretty sure that the QC is excellent, as is the case with all RØDE products, and this item is unlikely to be defective. But I'm sure there are cheaper alternatives available...

It works absolutely brilliantly, so far I've had no issues with it. Connects perfectly! Superb built quality! Only downside for it is that I wish I didn't need it! Let me explain. I use this connector to connect the Rode Smart Lav + Rode Smartlav+ Lavalier Microphone for Smartphone mic to a recorder ( Zoom H1). I wish it worked without the adapter but it doesn't.... Not a biggie though.

Another great product from Rode, this converts the iPhone SmartLav Plus into a standard lav mic which can be used with any standard recording device and gives you 100% flexibility no matter what video or audio recording situation you find yourself in. I haven't yet tried it with a radio mic receiver but I am sure it will do the job there too. It is a well moulded, durable product that I expect to last a lifetime.

Bought this in conjunction with another item so I could get a Phantom powered mic to work on my camera and get better audio. Only gripe...the cable is very very thin. So I wrapped some black electrical tape round it to strengthen the cable.

Did not work with my buds and device.

Cet adaptateur SC3 de Rode, offre un bon rapport qualité prix : ça marche, de bonne qualité, et cela ouvre le champs des possibles pour votre micro de poche Pas cher, je recommande d'adjoindre à votre microphone une rallonge Jack, car si avec votre smartphone le câble de 1.5m n'était pas trop court, avec un appareil photo ou caméscope c'est une autre histoire ! Pour se mouvoir librement Rode propose donc une rallonge : Rode SC1 Rallonge pour SmartLav et SmartLav+ - 6m Avec ces 2 accessoires vous êtes parés pour réaliser toutes sortes de vidéos, dans de nombreuses conditions.
