good for smartphones; pushing it for nex cameras
this is great if you're into timelapses and you want an affordable option that creates a mechanical (as opposed to post-production) panning effect.the build is okay; it would show superficial wear and tear pretty quickly, but this is to be expected given the price.there should be no issues combining this with a smartphone as the smartphone is light enough not to cause a strain on the x-lapse's physical limitations. however, i bought it with a view to combining it with the nex 6 (the timelapse app is pretty nifty) and the 16mm pancake, but even that was a little heavy for the x-lapse. the x-lapse would still rotate, but the nex 6 would be slanted towards the heavier side.there are also inbuilt limitations to this mechanical device. you have the option of rotating the x-lapse 90 degrees in 15 minutes, 180 degrees in 30 minutes, or 270 degrees in 45 minutes. this means you can't make it rotate any faster or slower. but the fact that no battery is required may be a bonus for some.a final note: this product works best if you are able to place it on a completely level surface, for obvious reasons. the horizontal panning won't be level otherwise. something to take note of for users intending to screw the device unto a tripod baseplate.

Decent device to add a little extra to your time-lapse
Decent device to add a little extra to your time-lapse. I mainly use this with a Veho Muvi K2 and get nice results from it. It takes one hour to complete a full 360 and has marks for every 15 mins (or 90°) so easy to set for shorter durations, just twist and go! Yes it is simply an egg timer with some bits stuck on the top and bottom.Has a male 1/4" thread on top to screw into any tripod hole in the bottom of a camera, I'm sure there is a weight limit to what this can turn but I haven't got any big/heavy cameras to try it with so cannot comment on it. Also the included phone adaptor (plastic clip that holds the phone quite firmly) screws onto this.On the bottom there's 4 feet that fold out to make it more stable when in use. And a 1/4" female thread so it can be used on top of a tripod/gorilla pod or anything with a 1/4" thread sticking out of it!Overall nice bit of kit that has annoyingly got me wanting more from time-lapses

Great little device but timing accuracy leaves a little to be desired.
This is a great product and does exactly what it should. Your smartphone (using the supplied adaptor) or regular camera using the standard tripod mount, sits on a clockwork timer which rotates through an angle you select. My only negative, and the reason I've opted for four stars rather than five, is that mine seems to rotate through these angles far faster than it should. Selecting an hour, for instance, or 365 degrees, only takes around 35 minutes of actual rotation. Still, I've used it to create some good timelapse movies and I would recommend it.Just be aware of the timing issue - but after all, it's entirely clockwork, and therefore not accurate like a digital device might be. But that has benefits - no batteries to carry around, and a cheaper device!

Worth every penny and so much more!!
This is a great piece of kit! this piece of kit produces extremely smooth panoramas and in my opinion is probably worth more then it's being sold for! My only gripe is the clamp that holds the phone isn't strong enough so I had my dad glue two different types of foam/rubber into the clasp so it grips my phone firmly! I cannot recommend this enough! The only reason I'm not giving this 5* is because of the clamp otherwise you can't ask for a better item!! If anyone would like to see the kind of smooth panoramas this produces please check out my video on YouTube [...] I've also got two other videos on there as well.

1 Hour timelapse
The Veho X-Lapse is built to take rotating time lapses; in the box Veho supply the clockwork rotating time-lapse body along with an adaptor to connect a phone. If you remove the adaptor there is a standard tripod screw to let you connect a light camera (or go pro.) The clockwork section has a tripod thread on the base; as well as 3 extended feet for a few extra stability options. It takes an hour to do 360 degree's; time well spent in the right place. Overall the Veho is cheap and a fun way to make some interesting videos and you get to take some time to enjoy your environment whilst it slowly spins around.

Adverts are misleading, this is time lapse photo stand
I thought from the advert videos on this product that it was for taking perfect 360 degree pictures, but it not, this is a time lapse 360 degree stand. Firstly you will need to have camera software that can take a picture 1ce ever n seconds and then be prepared to leave your phone/camera on this stand in place for anything up to 1 hour as per setting on the turn table. A little disappointed that there wasn't a fast spin mode as implied by the videos, but it does make a good mini static stand for taking group shots too.

Best piece of kit ever to spice up your timelapse footage.
Probably one of the best, most novel pieces of kits I've bought. There are loads of apps out there for making timelapses on iPhone and this absolutely puts a novel spin on things. Used it in a few movies, and of a few festivals I've put on or been involved in for shots of the crowd arriving. Having that 180 degree pan just animates everything wonderfully. This fits a standard iPhone 4S and 5 well. The iPhone 6+ I have is much slimmer and doesn't fit without some packing. I use my GoPro Hero 3 from time to time but much prefer the timelapses I get from an iPhone, but you can buy all the bits to get your GoPro to fit. It comes with a standard camera thread, but I'm too afraid to try and sit an expensive DSLR on top to be honest! There's a thread in the bottom end of the business to mount onto a standard camera stand. All you do is twist the unit 360 degrees, and it'll take an hour to do a full revolution.
