Can this be used with windows 10 running Kali linux on VM

Hi I just got this delivered few days ago and saw this question. To answer it, I am a Kali and Linux noob. I got it working as intended with Kali in virtual box. I am trying to figure out how I can install it to a usb drive but not as a live install. Not too worried about wearing out the pen drive either, I just want something portable I can plug in and boot. Until usb ssd thumb drives become a thing.

will this work on USB 2.0? or just 3

Crucialwifi - yes it will work with USB 2.0 but the naximum download speed will be throttled by the maximum speed if USB 2.0

i use a bt hot spot for my office in town. signal is weak, 1 bar at best sometimes my laptop can't even see the network. is this likely to help?

A public hotspot is likely to be affected by lots of variables such as the initial connection speed, the distance between your device and the router, channel/frequency of the WiFi, interference from walls or other sources and the amount of users connected. The outgoing connection from the router is the most important, which might give you an answer for your question, it probably won't.

Can I put this outside or will rain etc damage it?

HI, i do not think it will be a good idea to put it outside. If the weather is good should be fine, but if it rains or is cold as it was not built for outside conditions - product could be damaged. But i think you can find antennas also that will work fine outside - built for rough weather !
