A good ff camera at a great price
Sony A7ii at £899 with 28-70 Sony OSS lens is a great price. This full frame camera with the kit lens is good for those who enjoy their photography and want to capture great pictures without spending a small fortune. For every day use it delivers clear detailed shots. The camera and lens are nice and compact together and great for street photography or for landscape. It lacks the touch screen for accessing the menu and making quick easy adjustments. But having a simple camera has it advantage as well. The menu is only difficult if you are new to photography. Online help is great these days.I will invest in a better lens in the future. But at the moment I cannot see any advantage in upgrading to a better camera.

Fantastic Camera Producing Great Pictures
This camera is a great way into full frame photography. Even though it was released almost 10 years ago it performs really well. If video is important to you it only does 1080p but this is excellent quality. It does 5fps on continuous shooting, which seems faster than the specs. Only downside of this camera is the battery life is not great. I have bought another which gives me a fall back but I haven't had to use it as yet.

Wonderful camera
I spent a long time thinking about whether I could justify buying a full frame camera but I am really pleased I did. I always bought Minolta cameras back in the day and thought they were the best so when Sony bought the company I was always likely to drift back to them given the opportunity.I have only had the camera a few days so this is first impressions. It really feels well built, solid but not too heavy. Some people have said the shutter is loud but I didn’t notice a lot of difference to the Nikon D70 or to the original SRT 100b (yes, I kept it). One of the things I am looking forward to is getting a lens adaptor so I can use all my vintage Minolta Rokkor and Tamron zoom lenses on it.I have bought a spare Sony battery, they are quite small so don’t hold a vast charge but still better than my iPhone!Looks like many years of happy 35mm photography in front of me.

Affordable
The Sony Alpha 7 II stands as a testament to enduring quality, offering an affordable gateway into the world of full-frame photography. Despite its decade-long tenure in the market, it continues to provide all the essential features required for capturing stunning photographs and videos—barring 4K resolution. For novices eager to explore the full-frame domain, the Alpha 7 II serves as an ideal starting point. It strikes a balance between cost-effectiveness and performance, ensuring that your initial investment remains reasonable—though be mindful that certain lenses may carry a heftier price tag.The camera’s build quality is nothing short of remarkable. Its robust construction is complemented by weather sealing, a feature that not only enhances durability but also expands the possibilities of shooting in diverse conditions. However, I’ve rated it 4 stars due to one limitation: the fixed screen. While the display is clear and functional, it lacks the flexibility needed for selfies or any video work that requires monitoring oneself. This is a minor setback in an otherwise versatile tool for both budding and seasoned photographers alike. In conclusion, the Sony Alpha 7 II may not be the newest model on the block, but it certainly doesn’t skimp on delivering a solid photographic experience. Whether you’re just starting out or looking to add a reliable workhorse to your gear, this camera is worth considering.

Great all round
Great camera, kit lens is good however you will find its limitations quickly. the A7 Series are my favourite by far however the lenses are a touch expensive. Still really rate this camera. Picked it up during a sale in 2022, 2 year on and its still going strong. I use it for filming and photography.

Overly complicated
I didn't like the fact it has no built in flash. I didn't like the cluttered information on the screen. I did not like the manual focusing system. I did not like having to wade through 8 pages of set up in order to choose the SCN mode. I was disappointed that the puicture quality was not significantly better than that on my agingf Alpha 33. I didn't like the long winded product registration. I did not like that the video format is non-standard. I did not like the brevity of the user manual, nor the way it was written. The camera is overly complicated and frustrating to use. Probably great if you are using it in a studio, but if you want to capture a moment, this is not the camera to buy.
