I've had one of these for a pretty long time and it works flawlessly. Got a second unit, which is identical and works great. Operation is intuitive and the screen is easy to read. The battery lasts forever on this unit. Measurement is quick.The only complaint is rising cost. Well, it's not the manufacturer's fault...

I use this on the top of my water heating kettle. Fast acting and the temperature readout is on top of the probe. A+

This is twice as expensive as all the Chinese knockoff thermometers, but it works great, is ergonomic, easy to clean, and has a lifetime warranty. Whereas I had to replace the last cheapo one I bought after only a couple years, I'm confident that this one will last a very very long time.

I tested this thermometer in boiling water. It was only 1 degree off.It comes on quickly and temperature is displayed almost simultaneously.It has a very small point for easy penetration.Overall, I am very pleased with it's accuracy and performance.

On the bright side, it's super easy to use, easy to see the readings, and I believe, very accurate. On the down side, it takes several seconds to get the reading and it is a little wiggly to hang onto over, say, a pot of hot grease. (I.e., you can't hook it on the edge and let it go.) Nonetheless, I'm happy with it overall. Nice and compact to fit in crowded drawers!

I gave this five stars but I'd love to give it 10 if I could.I have 2 of these DFP450W thermometers and have had them for quite a number of years. The previous model where the probe is not tapered, the battery is smaller, and you can calibrate it. They worked fine and were (probably) very accurate. "Probably" because I don't care if the temperature is 141.4 or 141.5, just tell me if the food is done.So why 10 stars? Not for the product but for the company that sells it.One of the units' LCD display became dim . The 10's position. Still worked. Just had trouble displaying what it measured.I know Cooper-Atkins warrants the unit for accuracy but wasn't sure what they would do about the LCD display. So I called and expecting the worst with today's manufacturers honoring their products. Did they ask if I still had my receipt? No (and I didn't). Did they ask to see the unit to see if I had "abused" it? No (and I hadn't).So what did they do? Apologized and sent me a new unit. No questions asked.That's the reason for a 10 stars if I could. I wouldn't buy any other unit from any other company.

This comes with a spare battery that you will lose in the year or so that it takes to deplete the first one. Waterproof. Hold function allows you to test dish machines max temperature. I'm uncertain how to recalibrate it if that's even possible.

only because I love it so much! My first one lasted me multiple years, so if you want a food thermometer that will give you tons of life and easy to store, this one can't be beat. I cook chicken, fish, or turkey pretty much everyday, and this little guy is always by the oven, waiting dutifully. Grab two, and never over (or under) cook your grub again! Mange!

I have been using this brand of meat thermometer for many years. I purchased this one to give to my son. It's compact and works very well.

Spent days researching thermometers for cold water swimming use. Tried several others from kids bath-time yellow 'ducks' to small stick on aquarium thermometers (horrendously inaccurate). Saw a review about this thermometer on a blog where he tested & reviewed dozens & dozens of units, and this one came out top as a calibrated & accurate thermometer with very fast adjustment to temperatures (just 1/2 second re-calculations) - have used it submerged in the ocean many times now & can confirm it's waterproof benefits and it's accuracy / stability. It does take marginally longer reading air temp than sea temp, but only by a few seconds, and to be honest that's not my main reason for using this unit.The only thing I have to be careful about is damaging the thin probe when it's thrown into my swim bag with other kit but it does have a plastic tube that fits over the probe giving some level of protection.

This works amazing! As a line cook and culinary student - I use this almost daily! Great for general meat temps and have also used for sugar temps as well! The battery has lasted me this long and almost bought 4 months ago. Very impressed with the quality and durability.
