Crochet Hooks, Aluminium, Multi-Colour, 22-Piece

I ordered this set specifically to get the small sizes. It arrived in exactly 14 days and the package fitted through my standard letter box.The pouch the set came is made in soft vinyl that is coloured purple and has a grained look. The outside looks good but the inside is cheap black vinyl with clear vinyl strips that are spot welded to make loops for the crochet hooks.Like another reviewer I found I had two of the same size. In my case it is smallest size ie., 0.60mm. but I had just one of each of all the others.All were straight with the hooks in perfect order, though the hook on one of the 0.60mm size has a smaller hook than the other one but still usable.I checked the sizes of the hooks from 2.00mm to 6.50mm with my gauge and they are all correct. Unfortunately I have no gauge for the smaller sizes.As usual there is a size 2.50mm and a 3.50mm. These were continental sizes which became part of the English scene as metric equivalents of old Eng size 12 and old Eng size 9. They are not a perfect conversion. Luckily manufacturers of the two old Eng sizes still manufacture these and they are now named as 2.75mm. and 3.75mm.These are the hooks in the set. Please remember I have 2 x 0.60 hooks. So you may get a hook that not in this list.Silver coloured metal =2 x 0.60mm; 0.85mm; 0.90mm; 1.0mm; 1.1mm; 1.25mm; 1.30mm; Eng size 16 / 1.5mm; 1.6mm; Eng size 15 / 1.75mm; 1.9mm.Coloured Metal =Eng size 14 / 2.00mm; 2.50mm; Eng size 11 / 3.00mm; 3.50mm; Eng size 8 / 4.00mm; Eng size 7 / 4.5mm;Eng size 6 / 5.00mm; Eng size 5 / 5.50mm; Eng size 4 / 6.00mm; Eng size 3 / 6.5mm.If you only have this set of crochet hooks you are therefore missing =Eng 13 / 2.25mm. Eng 12 / 2.75mm. Eng 10 / 3.25mm. and Eng 9 / 3.75mm.There are of course also crochet hooks 7.00mm through to 10mm in existence.I do have a 20mm one I bought at the wonderful Phildar shop to make a shawl but alas Phildar is no longer in the UK.

This is a good enough pack to buy for someone who, as me, is starting to do crochet. You get all the sizes you need in a convenient bag. The bag itself was better than I thought it would be, it is actually quite smooth although you can see the finishing isn't great. The crochet hooks are nicely tucked within and don't slide even if the pouch is left opened.The only problem I have with the hooks is that I have two repeated sizes, on the silver/smaller section. Instead of having a 0.8 mm and a 0.85 mm, I have two 0.8 mm. In one of these hooks the size number is barely noticeable and on the back some have writings and others don't. Again, this is fine by me as I only planed on using the colored/bigger ones anyway and the smaller hooks would be just bonuses and will be used very very rarely.Since I have purchased this pack to my own personal use, considering the price, this item is quite good since I am a beginner and didn't want to invest that much now. However, I was thinking of buying another one of these packs as a gift but I won't risk it. Based on other reviews I can see it often happens having wrong size hooks and finishing problems with the bag...all in all is a good item for personal use for a beginner like me but I wouldn't buy it as a gift. :)The shipping was fast and the package came well protected and fitted through the mailbox, which was good. I bought it on the 28th of December for £6.90 and now it's cheaper, oh such bad luck...I could buy a new yarn with the price difference. :)

I've actually bought this set twice - I somehow lost the first set (I think I left it in a b&b) but went straight back to buy the same again as was very satisfied with them. They're sturdy, a huge range of hook sizes and nicely packaged. The only slight gripe is, after a couple of hours of use, they are quite narrow as they don't have a 'grip' as such, so wrapping them with tape or string might be an option for people using them a lot.

Bought as a gift for a family member and also I bought a set for myself as well as a little me to me gift.I’m a newbie to crochet and wanted to get started using a set that would allow me to have a go at everything. The set is lovely. The smaller ones in lovely bright colours and the larger ones in a silver colour.I’ve found the brilliant to get me started and the carry casenis a brilliant way of keeping them nice and neat and tidy (and stops me losing them). If you’re crochet for extended long periods you may benefit more from having a set with some comfort grips, as my hands started to hurt holding them after a while. As a starter set just to pick up the technique this set has been perfect. I just now need to become better at crochet itself. :)

The most appealing aspect of this set was obviously its price - I don't think I could get a single crochet hook in a shop for the price of the whole set to be honest! I also like the case, lightweight and thin, but there is space to lob in other hooks and markers and scissors if needed too.It is also very convenient to have a full set of hooks, so if I discover a project I would like to do I only need to worry about the yarn :)The hooks themselves again are very lightweight, easy to crochet with - and the different colours of the larger hooks is just a bonus :)However, I don't like the grip of these aluminium hooks. It is difficult to get a firm grip on them, it feels like they slide off my hands, but then they get a bit sticky after a while - and who wants to be attached to a crochet hook? But I believe this problem can be easily solved with a rubber pencil grip.

Joined a beginner's crochet class this kit was just what I needed.
