His Mighty Warrior: A Devotional for Children

My boys, (ages 8 and 10), and I have enjoyed reading through these “letters from God”. They are a great conversation starter and it’s so nice to give them encouraging guidance on how to learn to be Godly men.

One day my boys and I were in the car listening to kids praise music. The song that came on was in this sweet little voice singing about "sweet little David boy playing his harp" blah blah blah. I turned it off and said to my boys, "Do you know what David did? He killed a bear! God gave him strength to battle a giant and win!". That led to my finding this book which is just what I was looking for. It encourages the amazing qualities that boys are born with, like wanting to be strong and courageous adventurers and heroes. (Not that playing the harp is lame, it's just not necessarily what my boys are excited by in the Bible) It's written like letters from God to your "young warrior" and is all backed up with scripture and prayers you can say together. This is such a great way to excite boys about God's Word for them! I'm so glad for this book.

I put this book in my 6-year-old son's Easter basket and he reads at least one devotional to me most days, and he literally just said to me, "Mama! The more I read this book, the more I know that God is really good!"

Each day there’s a message to the son/warrior, a Bible verse and a model prayer for the child to pray. Lovely illustrations. Just need more of the same!!!❤️

My little boys are totally drawn to this with its maps and illustrations. Great topics like real heroes rescue, divine assignments and protector of the kingdom. Covers things like money, anger, telling the truth, attitude and love. They are like short devotionals with a verse and a prayer for each. Great compliment to a nightly bible story. We read one after a Jesus Calling storybook Bible story. I hope that someone hurries up and writes a book for boys with real hero stories from the Bible in this format!

My 6 yrs old son received it as a gift. I thought the book was cute and didn't think of it as much. Surprisingly, my son was so thrilled because it was message from God and took it by heart. He loved it as s bedtime book and even now he had been reading it over and over. Because of this, I purchased for my friend as well.

This book is special. When we first started reading this to our 5yro son he said, “mommy, is that God talking to me? Because it feels like it is.” The book is helping him understand his relationship to God and is encouraging him to grow into the strong warrior God made him to be. Thank you. Really special book.

This was good, but like a lot of Christian books I felt like it emphasized morality rather than the gospel. It also assumes that the child is a believer in a lot of ways. But its really great and my son really enjoys his "letters from Jesus" in a lot of ways. I change some things as I'm reading to make it more appropriate to him since he hasn't made a profession of faith and to bring the gospel in more than the book does.

This is an incredible book! Just what every young boy should have read to him, and later, read to himself. It deals with all the important issues in a boy's life, with God "giving" guidance through letters and Bible verses, and the listener/reader being able to respond back. If you want to prepare your son/grandson/nephew/godson, etc., to be a leader in what is good and right and moral and not just a follower of popular culture, this book will help put him on the right path. It explains things in language that boys can understand and equips them with information and understanding to help them make good choices. And most importantly, it stresses how very special and important he is to God. I also highly recommend "God's Little Princess", the version for girls.

This is a really lovely little book. It first came to my attention through one of my Class 3 Scripture kids. He told me that his mom, brother and dad read this every night. The first time I took this book to my Scripture class, I got the little boy to read out of it in front of the class. I now take this book (and His Little Princess) with me on Scripture day. I don't always have the time for one of the children to read out of it but it stays in my Scripture bag so I know where it is if I have time in the class.
