Lots of different things to make with this
When purchasing this, I thought I understood what 'light' was, but I suppose I didn't. In my mind, clay has a specific texture and form, and this was not it. This is more like the poofy foam clay than actual clay. Having said that, I am still happy as a clam. I occasionally purchase stuff like this to do homemade crafts, like making Christmas ornaments or holiday figurines with my kids. Those more heartfelt gifts you give to grandma or that favorite aunt. I usually go a bit basic and get primary colors and mix my own, but this little setup caught my eye and I am sold. The variety of colors will allow me to save time as well as creating a lot more varieties of things without spending most my time mixing. They are slightly small, but with all the colors you get, I actually feel like less is more. I love that it comes with a little mat and basic utensils for sculpting. I have all these things already, but someone who does not will find them useful. The only real issue with this, was one of the packages was not full, but, as with all things, an occasional mishap can occur or be overlooked. This is not a big deal, and might just be a phenomena that just so happened to occur with my box and mine alone. The only thing I wish these kits came with were storage bags, because sandwich bags to reseal unused clay after opening, sometimes don't work well enough to keep it supple and prevent drying. With this many colors, it would be a shame to lose some because I can't store it easily. I will probably wrap unused in plastic wrap then in sandwich bags to double seal. I also have a food saver and can use that to seal them up again, so storing unused clay for future use won't be a personal problem for me. I don't think anyway. This set is great for being able to create whatever you wish, and it sticks together just fine. In the event it doesn't for anyone out there, you can make individual parts to your creation and a dot or thin line of glue to fuse it together works really good. I've done this before with other kinds of clay. Different glues work better for different projects so you may have to test a few, but that's only if the need arises. It probably will not. Please note that some colors were repeat. So it is 50 packages, not necessarily 50 colors. There are still a lot of different colors and I am actually happy that some have 2 of the same, as they are colors I will probably use the most.

Great for kids who love sculpting!
Love the silicone mat and tools as a great addition to a huge variety of colors for kids to make all sorts of things, this is air dry clay so it gets hard when exposed to air for a long enough time. So if you don’t use all of one color you need to seal it in a container or ziploc bag, also all of the clay in the box was sealed so they they were all good. Great gift for kids!

Great starter kit to try out air dry modeling clay
If you aren't sure if your child(ran) will enjoy playing and creating with modeling clay, this would be a great kit to see if they will enjoy the activity before committing yourself to buckets of the stuff along with all the various tools. I have had a small project in the back of my mind for awhile, and needed this type of modeling clay to create it. I didn't want to spend a lot of money on getting a good variety of colors or end up with a lot of unused modeling clay. This kit is the perfect combination of size and variety. Unlike regular molding clay, this is really lightweight and easy to work with. It doesn't leave little bits stuck to everything or leave your hands feeling coated and smelling weird. Have you ever tried getting modeling clay/play-doh out of hair or carpet fibers? It's a nightmare. Thankfully this air-dry clay doesn't stick to surfaces like regular clay and is a lot easier to clean up. It's harder to mix colors with this type of clay, but it comes in so many colors that you really shouldn't need to. Being harder to mix also makes it easier (to a point) to separate the colors if your child decides to mash them all together. And being lightweight makes it easier to create stacked items, like snowmen or tall trees because this clay won't start to smoosh down under the weight like regular modeling clay. To dry and 'set' your creation, no baking is required. A few hours uncovered is usually enough to dry the clay. If you have a small fan handy, set that nearby and have it blowing on the clay to help speed the process. Wherever you put your creation to dry, be sure you put it up and out of the way of any pets, especially cats. Any leftover clay needs to be stored in an airtight container so it doesn't dry out.

Large Variety of clay & tools
This air dry clay set is the perfect gift for the little creator(s) in your life. I chose this set for both my girls (5&8) and i like how the clay is divided up into their own little baggies with multiples of the same color. This will prevent them from taking a small amount of clay and allowing its remnants to dry out, also seeing as this set was meant to share- having several small sections of workable clay divided and ready will keep from arguing over who gets how much of what color etc.My kids are homeschooled so im always looking for valuable additions to our art supplies. Air dry clay is great to have on hand not only for art, but often times we tie in their reading lessons by challenging them to create their own character from our story, or even remake an element of the setting. I also appreciate it coming with a play mat for molding clay creations (pictured with a tape dispenser for size reference) and even a set of plastic shaping tools. The clay is lightweight and has boundless color options. Overall i would recommend to others who have a young creative in their life, or as a general staple for home art supply kits.

Super soft…not sticky!
The media could not be loaded. This clay is so soft and fun to mush around in your hands even. There some difficulty getting it out of the bags. Some tend to stick to the inside of the bags/plastic. If you take the majority of the clay you get out and stick it to the remaining clay it usually comes out. Easy to mold and make whatever your imagination comes up with! There are a lot of dark colors in this pack…would be good for making dinosaurs etc. If you like brightest colors this pack may not be for you
