Train works fine with remote... once you figure it out:For those that do have a remote and are wondering how it works, we have some answers. Here is what we know: You turn on the switch on the engine after charging and plugging in the car with the battery and the light at the front will blink. (The car with the wire can be charged with a usb charger; the adapter should be in the box also.)When you use the remote (Do this after turning on the train engine - you should see a flashing red light at the front of the engine when you turn the switch on & after it beeps.)To make it do run:1. Push and hold the power button in the middle of remote until the train makes a sound and the light stops flashing & is solid (This button is under the dial on the remote.)2. Push this same power button and the train makes a sound like an engine is running.3. Turn the dial so it is in the middle and the train stops, if you turn it to the right-it runs forward, if you turn it to the left-it runs backward.4. If you push the horn button, it sounds the horn.5. If you push the button with the smoking engine, it will put out the smoke after putting water in.

Very nice colorful Christmas train with Santa in last car with train whistle sounds and smoke. The cut out sceneries are very nice and the Christmas trees make the Christmas set.Remote control makes Christmas train funLove it !Thank You

My grandson loves the train set! I am really happy with the look of the trains and the train sounds the engine makes! The cost of set far amazing for what you get, my only issue is that the trains are easily derailed, the issue could be resolved by a wheel that rest on both sides of the track. All in all this is a great set for toddlers.

The battery box in the train cabin is missing so my kids couldn’t play with it Christmas morning. Other than that it is a nice train but not useful for play.

The Kids really love this train set. It's super fun for them to use the remote control, which can go both forward and reverse. The realistic sound and smoke make them laugh. The inclusion of engine, passenger, cargo and coal cars is an intertesting part for kids to learn the functions of trains.The rechargeable battery set is a plus. I'm tired of buying AA/AAA batteries.Love the attention to detail.
