Jump Start a Child's Brain
Tangram Blocks are a nice introduction for children to learn how to manipulate and work with shapes.Everything comes in a folder book which holds the blocks, a small booklet, and a set of colored pencils. The wood pieces are a nice child size, color coded, and smooth. The booklet shows different designs which can be made using the Magnetic Wooden Blocks. The booklet pages can also be colored to match the corresponding wood blocks used.Individually cut out sticker magnets are included and need to be applied to the backs of the blocks before use. The block's magnetic back will stick well to the dedicated area to the right inside of the folder. Blocks are easily moved around by a child to form the figures pictured in the book. A child can not only follow the suggested patterns in the booklet, but enjoy making their own designs. This is great to take along on a trip or in the car, since it's all self contained and easy to use. These blocks could also be used on a frigerator door! The blocks are meant to be stored in a square foam area. However, it is difficult to remove the magnetic blocks from the square and a young child will need assistance. I will place a wide ribbon for my granddaughter to lift the shapes enough to remove.A big “Thank You” to Dorjee for showing the pattern to return the blocks into the foam square. The colored pencils are also stored in a foam square, but will fall out as they get smaller with use.Overall, the set is a nice teaching tool for a small work area.

Good idea, but doesn't fit well
I love the idea of this, but it isn't coming together quite right for us. The magnets are included so that you can make the shapes magnetic (they are not already stuck on, you need to do this). However - if you stick the magnets to the pieces, they no longer fit in the carrying case, as it is too thick to stay closed. You can use them without the magnets, but then they fall all over the place and aren't great for travel. I also found that they coloring feature wasn't super helpful - my kids would prefer that the shapes in the pattern book match the color of the pieces. It just didn't quite flow together for us. However - the shapes and the pattern book will still be used - just at home, and maybe just to build our own shapes and figures.

Great Idea but Only Okay Magnetism Strength
This is a wonderful quiet toy for my 7 year old. The tangram is a nice puzzle with many possibilities.PROS- Quiet: It's magnetic so the pieces stick to the board and can be moved around with minimal sound.- Book storage: Everything stores within the book itself. There is a flap that keeps the book closed, though the magnet on the flap isn't very strong.- Book ideas: There are shapes within the books that look like animals or other things using the puzzle pieces. This is great for inspiration or even copying the same design.- Easy to setup: The puzzle pieces aren't magnetic but there are flat magnets that stick to the pieces permanently. You need to do this part yourself but it's very easy to do. Don't mess up.CON- Weak magnetism: The board or magnetic strips are fairly weak. They will not move if the book is flat but they barely stay on if the book is upright. It makes it easy to slide pieces around the book surface but I think it could have been stronger and still succeeded in that.Overall, I'm happy with this product. There are a couple drawbacks but it'll mostly work for me.

Great Building Aid
My five year old son loves this book! He is obsessed with magnetic blocks. This book gave him inspiration for building things he did not know were possible. I like that it provides instruction for him to follow. He likes to be challenged and this book does just that.I highly recommend this book for children of all ages.

Odd shape will drive perfectionists crazy
5 1/2 yo knew exactly how to dive in.I love that this is magnetized for easy travel... but I wish the pencils somehow clipped in too for the same convenience.Love the idea. Glad I took a picture of how the pieces were "away" before we played so I could them back when done! When I first opened it I was confised by the extra magnet in there not part of the sheet pf magnets. Then I thought it was to fix a bad shaped magnet for the one piece. Then I realized you need to put a magnet on both sides of the one shape to facilitate all patterns. That leaves a magnet visible at all times. - which looks so wrong. All of my neuroticisms aside... it is a fun toy that gets the kids thinking and identifying patterns.
