Let's Explore the Cayman Islands Paperback – August 4, 2014

My family is from the Cayman Islands! This little book brought me so many memories.will share this with my little Caymanian grandkids.

I am pleased to be the first to review this great children's book. Although the intent was to purchase this book for my friends special needs child, I am a little ashamed to say that I delayed giving the gift while I ordered a second copy for myself. Several years ago I lived in Grand Cayman and will always have a bright spot in my heart for these beautiful and cultured three islands. This book really provides a fantastic and intriguing introduction to life in the Cayman Islands from a local girl's perspective. I use the word intriguing because this book can be used as a "handbook" for any kid visiting the islands - checking off the great experiences one-by-one as they are completed. What a great way to learn about the culture, the people and the most simplistic aspects of life in the Cayman Islands.I was especially rewarded when I flipped through the book and was reminded of two particular experiences that remain fresh in my mind's eye. The first is the East End Fish Fry - when my exotic Caymanian girlfriend took me there for the first time to enjoy fried fish and fritters only minutes out of the ocean. This indeed is one of the simple pleasures. The second was climbing the Bluff in Cayman Brac - she and I climbed this Bluff together and saw a wondrous view of the Western Caribbean from the top. And the Boobys at the top were quite spectacular.The illustrations in this book provide food to the imagination where the words leave off. Well done and highly recommended for your kids.

Learning about the Cayman Island Culture is so important! This children book would be great for schools across the USA and a wonderful tool in teaching kids about different places around the world and the joys of exploring the Cayman Islands!
