Single issues are better
The prelude is 4 comics. Two Hulk Comics and The Dark World prelude comics. It's not worth the price or even worth the book if you own them all individually.

Nothing Related to the Film
Bunch of reprinted stories. Nice if that's what you want. Disappointed if you expect new material directly related to the film as the cover would suggest.

Nothing but a retelling of previous movies
It is retelling the movie Incredible Hulk and Thor 2 with some completely out of context comics from Thor and Hulk.

Filling in the back story – just not the back-story of the film, as such…
Marvel's Thor: Ragnarok Prelude (Marvel's Thor: Ragnarok Prelude (2017)) collects two 2-issue film adaptations – the Incredible Hulk (the one with the Abomination) and Thor: The Dark World – and two single issues – Thor (volume 1) #361 (1985) and Incredible Hulk #95 (2006).The two film adaptations are, as always too short to do justice to the films, though you’ll pick up the salient points and most of the important dialogue.Thor #361 sees Thor leading an Asgardian invasion of Hel, and a big fight with Hela, though, if I remember correctly, it is the next issue that sees the Executioner’s last stand. This is by Walt Simonson, and is one of the best ever runs of the Thor comic.Hulk #95 is from the Planet Hulk storyline, and features the arena fight that is one of the centre-pieces of the Ragnarok film, though it is not Thor who is involved.I have watched the Ragnarok film twice so far, and the two adaptations are of little consequence, but the two single issues will give you a good ‘feel’ of where the film is drawing its roots and sources from

The prelude is basically a re-telling of the previous film "Thor: The Dark World". Fairly disappointed that marvel had chosen to do this instead of continuing the streak of interesting, albeit short, backstories that fill the gaps in between movies. Too obvious that this is just a cash-grab. The product description can also be much more clearer about this.
