Russell Mulcahy's Tale of the Mummy / Beneath Loch Ness [Blu-ray]

Definitely worth watching
Personally, I don't understand the low ratings for this movie. The plot was as good as it could be to support the idea of a 3,000 year old mummy coming back to life. If you know that going, I have no idea what you were expecting. It was well written, had some great actors, and moved at a nice pace. As far as I'm concerned the movie is a good movie. Notice I said good, not great. It was certainly worth 4 stars in my book. If you like the Universal monster movies, give this one a try.

Meh
Russell Mulcahy (Resident Evil Extinction) of the criminally underrated Razorback wrote and directed this big dud. Packed with alot of silly late 90s CGI. Basically it's a simple setup as an Ancient Egyptian Princes tomb is opened and his curse begins. Most of which involves him flying around as goofy mummy wraps attacking people. It's a very dumb movie but it's somewhat fun and funny in an unintentional way. In the end it's not really worth your time but if you must you should at least know what you're in for. Jason Scott Lee (Dragon: The Bruce Lee Story), Lysette Anthony (Krull), Sean Pertwee (Event Horizon), Jack Davenport (Pirates of the Caribbean), Michael Lerner (Elf), Christopher Lee (Howling II), Shelley Duvall (Shining) and Gerard Butler (Dracula 2000/300) star.Budget: $8m2.5/5

Great story and acting
Not your typical sci-fy space opera. Twist ending you don't expect. That's all I can say. Watch it and you will be pleasantly surprised.

2 movies low price not too bad
Movies are great, two movies for low price is not too bad, if you buy them separately you will pay a little bit more just do the math.

but was pretty much what I expected from a low budget type ...
A little bit too CGI for me, but was pretty much what I expected from a low budget type movie.

Not the corny Karloff movies.
Sticks to the basic storyline as the old black and white mummy movies, a bit more plausable, good for a Saturday night with a bowl of popcorn with the wife and kids(teenagers).
