I've caught a lot of minnows in this trap, but when I lift it out of the water, I always loose a bunch out of the bottom. I bought this specifically because it didn't have a zipper because I'm using it in salt water and I figured the zipper would rust pretty quickly, so I have to wrap a rubber band around the bottom to prevent the losses. I wish it came with some sort of bait station. I've been wrapping some dog food in a fine mesh and tying it to the top and I get more bait that way, but it's a pain to get that bait tied so it hangs down in the middle of the trap.Update (1 year later) - went to use it again this year, the rods (like an umbrella) that hold it open have rusted and become so brittle that one broke. I fashioned it together and baited the trap. When I pulled it the next day the string it comes with snapped leaving the trap in the water. When I fished it out with a boat hook it was collapsed due to the weak metal arms that hold it open. 1 shrimp was the total of my catch. It's really not salvageable so I've thrown it away and I am now seeking a better trap. Probably need to spend more to get something of higher quality.

i have now tried to catch shrimp OR ANYTHING ELSE IN THE SF BAY 4 different times and it has never caught anything even when a bucket with holes drilled into it WITH THE EXACTLY THE SAME BAIT USED dropped next to it caught over-100-shrimp and twenty mudsuckers... i hate this item so much and i just burned it in a bonfire it sucks that much.

BEST ADVICE use powerbait drop a canister of the putty style powerboat in the trap.. If you want big fish wait for minnows to enter DO NOT remove them they will attract larger fish into trapThis is #2 I've owned!!. Everything from itty minnow to 2 foot northern pike and catfish.!! Works great.

Fun trap used at the beach, rusted up pretty good and fell apart from the crabs pinching it but hey it was fun

Overprced junk....Rusted after a week. Cheap materials!

I bought it used it twice and it broke. I used several different types of bait and the fish dont get near it they get up to it and they swim away. It's got plastic pieces that are easy to break.

I have not tried it yet but it looks fine. The only thing I didn’t like is that there were no instructions as to where to put the bait. I believe that bate should be used but it would fall off the bottom hole if it is just placed in there.

They work good but you have to constantly repair the mesh.
