Solsop RJ45 Crimp Tool Pass Through Ethernet Crimping Tool for Cat5 Cat6 Cat7 End Pass Through Connector, Support Stripping & Cutting

My first ever ethernet cable! The instructions were clear, the pinout was well presented and next day delivery. Great content for the money, far more boots and connectors than I'll ever need, and I found the tool itself well made.

There are several items as part of this package. I will review them one at a time. 1. Crimpers pros are the multifunction all in one tool. first there are wire cutters and are very sharp and precisely cut the CAT5/5e. The cutters are not meant to cut heavy gauge wire. Next there are two wire strippers, one for round cable and one for flat cable. I can't speak to the flat wire stripper because I don't use flat cables but the round CAT5/5e stripper worked perfectly without knicking any of the inside wires. Although I would warn that the round cables can become more oval when handling but just a quick squeeze to reshape the cable before using the strippers works perfectly. Finally you have the actually crimping function. I only used the RJ45 8P8C but there are RJ11 6P and 4P crimps also. The RJ45 connector slid in easy and hit the stopper without pushing through too far. A firm squeeze on the handles crimped the connector. The handles are just long enough to provide good leverage without using two hands to squeeze. The one con for the crimps are it doesn't have a ratcheting mechanism or a final click when the crimp is complete. But as long as you perform a full closure of the handles the crimp comes out great everytime. 2. Testers pros are the ease of use and versatility to use with RJ45 8P and RJ11 6P connectors. The testers attach together which is great when testing a short patch cable and can be reverse attached to keep the test ports on the same side. I used these between three floors without the need to constantly run up and down stairs to check connections. I was not able to find any cons with the testers. 3. Stand alone wire stripper - There's not much to these but it does work well. There are several different stripper positions for different sized cables. It is very easy to slide the cable into a smaller position and knick all the inside wires. Also you don't want to rotate the strippers around the wire too many times because it will dig in and knick the inside wires. As a bonus on the stand alone strippers is a punch down tool for seating the twisted pairs into a jack assembly. The only con i found with the stand alone stripper is it's not very heavy duty but to be honest I will use the wire stripper on the crimpers most of the time. Overall at this price this package is a very good deal and would be a good addition to a tool set. One last mention is this would not hold up well for everyday professional use but as occasional use this will hold up great.

Tested on CAT6A outdoor cable. Connectors are not one size fits all; so do your research. Find your cable specs and buy connectors made for them. The cutting/crimping tool works well. It strips the CAT6A cable I was using. It also crimped and cut off the extra wire from the staggered pass through shielded connectors I bought from a different brand. There is also a crimping tool for the fingers of the shielded connectors which holds it on to the cable. This function worked but not well. If i was a professional this wpuld be more important to me, but since I'm not I can pre-bend the fingers so they wrap properly. I wish there was an adjustable stop on the stripping tool to allow for consistent stripping without cutting too deep (a simple screw would work) but I don't think this is a feature on any tool like this. You're expected to regulate your squeezing pressure to avoid cutting to deep. Takes some trial and error. Only giving it 4 stars rather than 5 because the cable connectors and boots say they will fit CAT6A cable and they do not. At least, not the outdoor cable I am using. There are no specifications listed for the cable connectors or boots and this could be a very easily remedied. Typically these connectors list: the wire gauge they accommodate, the conductor insulation range they are made for, and the overall cable diameter the boots will fit correctly. I can tell you they do not accommodate 7.8mm OD cable and they do not accommodate insulated conductor OD of 1.14mm. I can't say what AWG they are made for because I couldn't even fit the wires in.

After doing much research and comparing brands and packages we settled on this unit. We do a fair amount of wiring for ourselves and customers and this crimper is, by far, the best bang for the buck that we found. The crimper is easy to use, makes excellent connections that hold firm. The fact that everything lines up to ensure a secure and long lasting connection is paramount to reliability and peace of mind. If we had one complaint it would be that we didn't order this sooner. It not only saves time and money but the crimper itself is very well made and rivals units costing twice the price. Durability is obvious from the way this crimper is constructed. Highly recommend this unit.

Great kit. They thought of everything. It's got all the tools and components needed to diagnose, install, repair and test Cat6 ethernet cabling. High marks for quality, directions, information and value. They even included extra cutting blades. Great how-to videos available, too. This kit gave me the proof I needed to confront my cable installer on just how sloppy a job he did wiring my house.

Good tool easy to use, just need to make sure the individual strands are perfectly straight before trying to insert them into the plug. I also find it better to strip back about 5cm so that if I don't get all the strands in the correct locations I can switch individual wires.

bought this to replace an older crimper I had. was fairly easy to use and great for pull through connections. very helpful with having both a type and b type profiles on the side as I'm never gonna remember until the next time I do a crimp again

J’aime pu certir correctement mes prises réseau facilement grâce à ce kit complet. Le testeur permet de vérifier rapidement le bon raccordement des fils. Il faut néanmoins rajouter une pile 9V pour l’alimenter. Pour moi qui n’ai pas l’habitude de faire ces branchements, c’était parfait !

The installation process is quicker and more reliable; you don’t have to worry about a wire miss-feeding once you push it in. This crimper is designed for these connectors although you can also use this crimper on conventional modular RJ45 plugs too. The frame of the tool is made of heavy steel and is well put together. It has a built-in sheathing stripper that worked very well with different brands of CAT5E and CAT6E cabling that I tried. The modular plugs fit precisely into the metal shoe (not a plastic shoe like some other crimpers and the handle smoothly crimps the modular plug and trims the protruding pass-through wires in one clean motion. The crimper is non-ratcheting, which I prefer because it gives you more control of the cam-over at the end of the crimp. The protruding wires are cut perfectly flush as can be seen in my pictures. The crimper also has a convenient handle locking bar to keep the tool compact in your tool pouch. There also is a handy wiring chart for straight and reverse cables on the side of the tool. Only time will tell if this product has similar longevity and durability as other competitive products on the market. Therefore, I will monitor this product over the next 8-12 months of use and revise my review should problems arise. Cost-effectiveness and value: Overall I am very satisfied with the product, it is well-made, convenient, and easy to use. At a current price of $39.99, I feel it is fair value for the quality and functionality delivered.
