Done with Polar -- No, I'm Not. (See edits.)
I wrote my review below while I was frustrated, so please see my edits at the end.Initial review:I've tracked my heart rate during exercise for almost 20 years and have finally had enough of Polar. I used their chest strap with their watches back before Bluetooth even existed. I've used the H7 and now the H10 sensor/strap with the Polar app. But I have had constant problems over the last 3 years. The current problem, which I've had before, is that my heart rate completely drops out during heavy exercise. My resting heart rate when I first wake up in the morning is in the 40s, yet while running stairs, jumping rope, and doing wall balls, my heart rate is registering about 20 BPM using the Polar H10/chest strap/Polar Beat app. I can watch my heart rate reading decline while I'm pushing myself to the max until eventually it reaches 0.With each new Polar issue, I go through all the steps. Reset the heart rate monitor, change the sensor's battery, rewet the contacts on the strap (even though I already did this before I put it on), unpair/repair the heart rate monitor to the phone, uninstall/reinstall the app, buy a new sensor, buy a new strap...==== EDIT BELOW ====Everything above stands, except that I'm not done with Polar. I *AM* frustrated, but the Polar chest strap/sensor still offers the most accurate measurements I've seen, and it does work great for several months until the issues start again. After thinking about it, I just decided to change my mindset. I now consider this a consumable product that doesn't hold up as well as it used to and will need to be replaced once or twice a year. I'm okay with that because it works so well when it does work, and I just removed 1 start to reflect that.My heart rate monitor does get a lot of use. I wear it 6 days a week. If you exercise less often it may last longer. For anyone who hasn't had this issue, I usually know replacement time is coming soon when my calorie burns start registering lower than usual. This is the result of the heart rate monitor capturing 0 or a very low BPM for periods of my workout. These very low readings reduce my average heart rate and throw off the final calculation for Calories Burned. Unless you watch the screen the whole time you're working out, you probably won't even notice the dropouts at first. If you start to suspect this issue, look at the Heart Rate summary after exercise, and you can see the drop outs. I'm guessing this data would be standard for most apps. If you use the Polar Beat app, click on the HR tab below your workout summary. My first picture shows what a normal cardio workout looks like, and the second pic shows what the dropouts look like.I still do recommend this product and just want to offer my experience since I've been using this monitor for so long.

Bought because I am not slim
When I see ads for weight scales, the person stands on it and the number is 140 - 150. That is not me.This sensor, when sold with the strap, comes with a belt for THOSE people.I bought a strap that fits and this sensor individually.I am very happy with this purchase. I have found that SOFTWARE can be odd, though. Some software requires that I link with my phone, and some require that I like with the software and then "turn it on" in the software. None of that is a reflection on this product... just good to know if the user starts to think it isn't working. Check the software being used with.

Great product except its longevity
I love everything about this sensor except its life. This is my third purchase of the product; the other two suddenly stopped working around the two-year mark. Both times I thought it was the battery, but I was wrong. Battery life is around a year, with irregular use. I purchased the Asurion 3-year warranty this time.

Essential for someone like me
I recently started exercising, it's been a long time and i'm waaaay out of shape. We've got an elliptical machine and on day 1 I followed one of the training routines on it and was pretty sure i was gonna die! My Heart rate (per the built-in HR monitor on the elliptical machine) was around 175, WAY too high for a 45 yr old, obese guy like me.That leads me to the Polar h10, it's a strap with electrodes on it and a sensor that monitors HR, then feeds that real-time to an app on a smart phone. Exactly what I wanted; something that can help me hit target HR (I'm aiming for 70% max, 122bpm, to start) and maintain for a great workout. My one complaint is that the app (on android devices) doesn't show as other background apps, so instead of toggling like I normally would between apps, I have to click the app icon. Not a deal-breaker, but it is the reason I gave this 4 stars instead of 5.Get it, if you can relate to the above and stay safe!

Slow response
I replaced a very old H7 with this H10. The first thing I noticed is that the response time is slower than my H7. I can feel heart palpitations long before they show up in my app. With my H7 the charting in my app jumped instantly when my heart wet off the charts telling me to slow down on my stair stepper. This H10's averaging algorithm is not what I need.
