O'SKOOL Router Lift System, 3-1/2" Router Motor Fit, Aluminum Plate

This is a well built and finished product comparable to any competitors. Lift operation is smooth and solid. There is no apparent backlash and it offers an effective and convenient locking mechanism, affording good adjustment precision. The indexing readout is also effective and convenient to use and zero out. The crank is located well in front of the router and with its long shaft allows manual operation that clears typical fences in any position without interference. The table insert provides a perfect standard fit and adjustment.

Unit is precise and fits my DeWalt 3.5” dia. router perfectly, enabling me to easily swap bits and make adjustments above the table. My only gripe is that the rotation crank handle seems a bit wonky when attempting to raise or lower the router any distance rapidly. I’ve taken to using a small drill at low torque with a hex-head bit in lieu of the handle. The value point is really nice for the high quality and design when compared to much higher priced “brand named” units. Also, comes with wide supply of plates and very clear instructions. Agreed that this is one of those jigs that you don’t know you needed it until you find you can’t do without it.

Easy to install in my table. Works as describes. Would have liked mounting screws but it wasn’t a problem to find screws that worked. Set up is easy.

This is a awesome product. Very high quality and well made. Adjustments are smooth and easy and the router is very well secured in the mount. Easy to setup since I already had table ready. I used there router plate template which worked well. It fit perfect. Very pleased.

Awesome. Makes for a very precise working surface. I couldn’t be happier with how it works and the quality of the product. Be careful of small hardware though. The set screws have a habit of falling out, and you’ll never find them in sawdust.

Highly ridged. Easy to setup. Dead square. My Bosch router is perfect now. Be aware the lift dial is not fixed in place. If you vacuum near it you’ll be digging through your dust collector to find it. Don’t judge me. :)

I like my Bosch RA1181 table but the lift mechanism RA1165 is terrible. I have gone through two of them with lost split pins and proposed fixes are marginal at best. And no matter what you do, you have to get your hand under the table to change out the bit as the router does not raise high enough to get the bottom spanner in place. So I wanted to replace it with a better lift but there is nothing with a plate that is the right size for the RA1181. So I took a chance and bought this one thinking I could trim the aluminium base with my table saw to fit. I shaved a few mm off each edge leaving just enough so that the levelling set screws still worked and it fit pretty much perfectly. The actual inset on the table itself isn't exactly square and there is some thick paint making it a bit uneven so some scraping of the table could have made the fit even better. But I'm very happy with it as is. It's perfectly level, the 3.5" 1617 router raises up and down without issue and it goes high enough to change the bit with ease. The other benefit is that I can close up the front and back of the table and get better dust collection. Previously I had a lot of dust drop down below the table and I couldn't close it up as I had to leave access from below to change the bit. The only minor niggle is that the bent wire tool for changing the plastic inserts is too flexible but this can easily be remedied with a handle or a replacement. It's a very simple tool. Overall I'm very happy with my setup now. I don't think you can get an aluminium topped lift without spending considerably more. I see a lot more routing in my future.

I am working on upgrading my router table. I had a craftsman benchtop table previously. The craftsman router is ok, but the benchtop craftsman table that I bought with it is the biggest pile of crap I have yet to purchase amongst all my mediocre yet normally good enough tools. I am still in the middle of building my new router table using this plate, lift, and also the oskool fence. Everything seems quite well made. No complaints about the lift or plate. They are 100% better than what I was dealing with before. I don't really know how much better some of the more expensive ones could be. This will be quite adequate. The fence, seems good too. The one feature I new I was giving up when I bought it was that it doesn't have a t track on the top of the fence. Not a big deal, but would have been nice. I bought them all as a combo and so far am quite happy with the whole set up.

Never had a decent quality router table: usually used heavy shapers for most profiling work. But they can be overkill for simpler routing tasks. Finally decided to build/get a quality router table and this insert plus the thick top that matches it are a perfect combo. Made some additional pieces and now it sits in as a part of my table saw surface. Couldn’t be happier!
