This is the most practical easel I have used, well engineered and beautifully finished. It is sturdy and stable whilst having a small enough footprint to make it usefull if youre short of space and headroom. The ceiling of my 'studio' is 88" from the floor: the central riser will extend to 91" and accept a 78" canvas, but it will still support a six foot canvas with the limited headroom room; some designs I've looked at will only accept the larger canvases if the riser is extended to 140" or more owing to the limited travel of the lower tray, so it's important to be realistic about your requirements and check before choosing. Unless you have high ceilings or a custom studio I think this classic design is one of the most practical I've seen. It is a very well made easel for the price. Having read some reviews about breakages I would advise not overtightening the adjusting knobs for the tray or the securing bracket: a moderate and slight pressure is all that's required and friction will keep everything secure. Make sure you have the brass plates for this purpose fitted behind the adjusting screws The only difficulty I had with assembly was due to the fact that the two base components with the feet attached had their labels transposed: picture 4 in the manual shows them numbered 8 and 9 in the manual, corresponding to left and right as you look at the back of the easel whilst in the folded position. Mine were numbered the wrong way around. It caused some head scratching for a while! I think it would be helpful if the pictures in the manual were larger and clearer, and would suggest that the manufacturer labelled clearly the front edge of these two components so it would be easier to get them the right way around. I advise taking care over the instructions and to persevere should you encounter a similar confusion. It is worth the effort. Poor labelling not withstanding this is a fine piece of kit.

After purchasing a different easel initially (which was a disaster from Meeden) I was hesitant to try another. If you buy an easel - get this one!! So easy to put together. All numbered pieces with clear instructions that fitted together with ease. It folds away neatly very easily too and the rubber feet on the bottom are a really nice addition, especially as I am using mine in a shed with rough, uneven flooring. Love it!

I wanted to upgrade my little easel to one that isn't as wobbly, and can take a larger canvas. Shown in pic with 30"x40" canvas and it has plenty of room for more! It arrived in excellent condition with no scratches or missing parts. I put it together myself which was not too bad - the screws and oddments were already separated and labeled. The only issue I had was that the first two pieces to put together were mislabeled (11 & 12) - I ignored the numbers and matched it to the diagram. Lovely product, would recommend.

This is a great easel. Took a little building, but nott difficult. Sturdy construction and able to fit large canvases.

I need an extra studio easil so risked this one, rather than my prerred W&N brand, It is sturdy, I'm hoping to use it very soon. :)

First of all value for money is super. The whole thing is great. It's good quality and really looks great. And is suitable for very large canvases. If I had one criticism bits with very large canvases. As I use oil Paints with spatula. There is movement in the easel when painting but to be honest that is to be expected. All in all good value for money.

Super solid, all round well made and a very good heavy quality material. Easy to assemble, but heavy to move around but I like it like that.

I love this easel. It is easy to set up and to adjust. It is sturdy, does not take up a lot of room, and moves easily. It easily accommodates a large canvas. The little shelf is handy. I attached a clip-on light and it stays put, doesn't slide off at all. I would recommend this well made and designed easel for painters of any level.
