If the unit's angle is too far and can't become level, it does blink to indicate it can't show level at that point. The auto leveling can be disabled and lock the lines into place. It is useful when items need to mounted at an angle.I'm using it with some tripods I have laying around and seems to be a standard thread.The only thing that I would like changed would be if the auto leveling had some dampening. Right now moving the tripod even a 1/8th of an inch causes the lines to bounce for a couple of seconds. It settles down at that point, but it would be nice to not have to wait so long to verify the lines are now in the desired location.Since I only need to move it a couple of times per mounting, it's not a deal breaker.It seems like a solid device and works well. Would recommend.As a DIY'er, I don't expect to use it very often, so I will not be able to comment on long term use. Definitely a good alternative to what you will find in big box stores. This one just definitely feels like a Chinese copy cat. The switch to turn it on is what you would expect to lock the laser angle with. The switch you would expect to be the power changes the level of dimness. Mounted to a standard tripod - and was a huge help in remodeling our kitchen, as a fraction of the cost.

I'm so pleased I purchased this item to help me put in my new deck. I put one pier in and then used that as a reference point to even the ground and put in the rest of the piers using sonotubes. Everything is so level !

Nice laser level at a good price.

This level worked very well in my recent filing project! The level can be attached to a tripod. It is also magnetic - one great trick is that it will stick to the metal framing of any drywall corner! This laser level saved me so much time and made my project much easier. The label is very bright and easy to see, and the brightness level can be adjusted. The level is small and can easily be stored or transported to job sites. It even comes with a very nice quality carry pouch.

Small very precise and easy to use. I used it for aligning handles and pulls on cabinet doors and drawers.

I am amazed how well this level works, I wish I had bought one much earlier. It is very visible in daylight, I have had zero problems with it. I would recommend this one.Jim
