Q: what is the width on the end ?

The width at the end is 51.7 mm (2 inches) narrows to 36.6 mm (1.44 inches) my husband measured this for me he owns calipers for EKG readings he was excited to measure lol

Q: Is the handle also heat resistant? Or ia it going to melt if I let the spatula resting on a hot pan border?

The whole thing is heat resistant, it's a single piece of formed heat-resistant Nylon. Of course, pans can get hotter than this can handle, and over time the end of it (the end of the flat spatula part that endures the most heat) has developed some small bubbles. I should post a photo later. It doesn't seem to hurt anything and it hasn't broken off any pieces or scorched in any places or left melted traces on pans. I've had one of mine for about 6 years and bought another one a couple years ago and neither one has melted, but both have eventually developed some small bubbles.
