Actioning is one of the most widely used rehearsal techniques for actors. It helps bring clarity to every moment or thought in the text, energizing rehearsals and bringing performances to life. This step-by-step guide draws on concepts from Stanislavsky, using sample scenes from both classic and contemporary plays, and is filled with exercises to demonstrate the technique at work. Review: Very concise and well organized for professional actor - This book is perfect once you have learned Stanisvlaski basics, some movement and voice training and concentration and imagination training. It makes auditioning which is so fast paced very quickly done with still much creative thought and not dry haste. Review: great for learning acting - I find this book to be one of the most accessible for students studying actions and objectives. Highly recommend!

This book is one of the simplest and most useful books for the actors
This book is one of the simplest and most useful books for the actors. Stanislavski says, "Don't think about the character. It will emerge as a result of performing truthful actions in the given circumstance". And this book lets the actor know how to discover and perform truthful actions in the given circumstances. This book should be the textbook for all the student actors!

Mechanical approach that will be lost on most
The book is deceptive in that it constantly tells you the theories and approach to the text wonโt create mechanical acting, but in execution of the technique, thatโs exactly the outcome. Itโs too intellectual of an approach that inhibits living performances. Stick with original โActions: and actors thesaurusโ and donโt get bogged down by this trap. It also stretches what could be a few paragraphs into full chapters. There are much better books on acting and how to apply verbs to your work

Great book
With some knowledge and practice, this book gave me a deeper understanding of transitive verbs. I then based the correct action on the main objective. I felt the script had more meaning, and my feelings were more primal.

extremely important for actors
Truthful subtext is everything for an actor and this book goes a long way in giving the actor a way to find it. I teach this to actors as a full time Acting Coach
