I discovered there is a very narrow selection of good materials out there
After searching for more detailed information on Graves Disease, I discovered there is a very narrow selection of good materials out there. Most books I have found are addressing hypothyroid and not hyperthyroidism, Graves disease. I was searching to find a way to get Graves under better control without having to use RAI treatment or other extreme measures. Two doctors recommended I get the RAI treatment that petrified me so I kept searching. Dr. Zaidi's book gave me hope that there are better ways to control the disease (diet is a huge factor) aside from zapping your thyroid with RAI. Since I read Dr. Zaidi's book, I am relieved to know that there are medical doctor's out there that believe diet plays a huge role and most of us can get better without using the extreme measure of Radio Active Iodine. My doctors never told me the horrible side affects that can occur if I did take the RAI treatment. I was discouraged and disappointed they did not educate me on the good and bad. Dr. Zaidi's book makes the information very clear and gives a good education on how we can take back our health with the proper care.I really appreciate Dr. Zaidi's position on treating Grave's disease not only with medicine, but with a good disciplined diet, we can make an enormous impact on our health by eating the proper foods for our thyroid. I am happy to report that in addition to working with my new endocrinologist, I am also working with a natural therapy doctor who has helped me with diet and nutritional supplements and I am well on my way to better health. I shared Dr. Zaidi's book with my natural medicine doctor who also gives the book kudos and has purchased another book! I would love Dr. Zaidi to be my endocrinologist but I live a few hundred miles too far. But hey, the book is there for those in need. If you are in the Thousand Oaks area in California, and need a specialists, look up Dr. Zaidi. This book has been a tremendous help in getting me on the right road to good health and I am now confident I can live well! Don't be discouraged Grave's disease sufferers, you can take back your health!Thank you Dr. Zaidi, your book is priceless!!Yolanda From The Bay Area

Excellent knowledge to help you understand treatments
When I was diagnosed with hyperthyroidism, my general practitioner sent me to an endocrinologist. I'm sure she's a great doctor, but she has too many patients to be able to really sit with a patient and go through all the questions that come up. It was just kind of "well, you can take antithyroid medication, but then you could have a white blood cell problem, and you'll probably end up having to have the radioactive iodine treatment, or you can just fix it with the radioactive iodine now." Thankfully, she had to go out of town for a week before anything happened. I had an appointment with an eye specialist to evaluate the Graves' eye disease, and learned that I needed to learn more before making a treatment decision. During that time, I read this and Elaine Moore's book on Graves' Disease, and I am SO HAPPY I did!The Moore book is very technical, and will tell you as much as you want to know about the disease and the treatments. Dr. Zaidi's book is easier to understand, and gets at all the information. My doctor had downplayed the dangers of RAI, and overstated those of the antithyroid medication. Dr. Zaidi explains the different methods of treatment and their risks and benefits. He also explains some lifestyle changes to go alone with antithyroid medication that may help put the disease into remission.Because of my reading, I've decided to go with the antithyroid medication. After all, if it doesn't work, I can always try the RAI later. Interestingly, two of the lifestyle changes are things I already knew I needed to change - I have come up as Vitamin D deficient in physicals for a few years preceding my Graves, and I had just been through a couple of very stressful years. I'm working on all that, and hoping for the best. I also found out that a friend I hadn't seen in 5 years had been through this too - she refused the RAI, did the antithyroid meds, made some minor life changes, and is in remission. So, I strongly recommend this book. No matter which approach you decide to use, you will be more knowledgeable and confident in your decision.

Looking to know more about Graves Disease?
This book is written by an endocrinologist who is in favor of the procedure I have chosen since my recent diagnosis of Graves Disease and hyperthyroidism. Since I have talked to other people who have chosen other procedures, I would recommend that readers of the book would carefully make their decisions from many sources. However, this book helped me make my decision. Also, the author spends most of the book on diet suggestions and recipes. I also discussed this with my doctor because the author's diet plans seemed very difficult to follow and have adopted my own food plan that is partly from his suggestions, but not all. I think it is good to read helpful books but also talk around to others, professional and also others who have this disease. It is important to get as much information as possible and then make your own decisions. I would recommend this book especially for those individuals who practice a holistic philosophy.

Best book for Hyperthyroidism /Graves' disease
This book is excellent , very informative and reads easily. This is the first book I brought on the subject where I actually didnt skip around the book looking for certain information. Because it is written so well and has an easy flow to it, I was able to read it front to back (as should be, lol). So much information on what to actually do to get your health back. I am so glad I came across this book!!!

Has nothing to do with using iodine supp for Graves
I bought the book because a reviewer said they got on iodine and selenium and their thyroid is now ok. This book does the exact opposite. It strongly recommended that you stay off iodine. Information was interesting but nothing I haven’t read before. Disappointed because again due to some erroneous review I thought it was about being treated with iodine.
