I like most of the Books this author has written and we have quite a few in our collection, but this one was disappointing! The illustrations were good but this story seemed like a sad attempt at throwing something together. It didn’t really rhyme or have a rhythm to it. As per my pictures, quite awkward reading these two parts of the story. I hope the next one she writes improves.

of all the Donaldson/Scheffler production this seems mostly an equality and diversity tick-boxing exercise, where the story and the text fail to reach previous levels of achievement. As if all of a sudden a black female protagonist was to make up for some past misrepresentation. All the previous ones have offered mostly with animals characters a fair share that kids need to learn about their world and some future pearls of wisdom...this seems a bit forced by the market, albeit its excellent illustrations.

Erst war ich begeistert von dem Format und wie toll und lebendig die Bilder wirken. Auch toll, dass die mutige Hauptfigur ein Mädchen ist (und nicht blond-blauäugig). Die Geschichte fängt super an...richtig gruselig für eine kleine Vierjährige. Doch dann dreht es sich irgendwie immer um dieses blaues Taschentuch und es wird immer weniger interessant. Schade.Als ich sah, dass das Buch mit die Rüpelbande übersetzt worden war...hab ich gleich das Englische genommen. Wer benutzt denn bitte das word Rüpel heutzutage noch ernsthaft. Ich hab simultanübersetzt. Baddie=Schlimmie
