Mr Gasket 98 Carburetor Heat Dissipater - Measures 1/2-Inches

I purchased this kit to fix two problems. I was experiencing vapor lock in the summer and also blew the gasket from the intake manifold to carb spacer.I installed on a 1968 Mustang with a 289 engine, 1978 Ford intake manifold with a EGR port cutout and a 4 barrel Holley 4160 series carb.Whoever restore the car used a 1/2” spacer that wasn’t wide enough to cover the entire EGR cutout, leaving a 1/8” gap. The gasket did not hold up to high rpms and blew.This heat dissipater kit was wider than my original spacer. This worked great covering up the EGR cutout on the intake manifold. The width of the kit was a perfect fit for my set up and just cleared the throttle.The only negative thing I found was that the kit was not exactly 1/2”. The gaskets and plates combined measured up to 7/16”. Didn’t bother me, but just an FYI.This fixed my intake manifold problem. Hopefully it fixed my vapor lock issues. We will see next summer.

I needed a 1/2 in carb spacer, looked for phenolics and aluminum in 1/2" could find none. This worked great while still giving need hood clearance.

works great! replaces factory heat insulator gasket and adds rise to keep it cool! sealed great! NOTE! If you use an after market Holley 4150/60, you will have to notch the plates slightly on the passenger side where the primary throttle plate link and choke high idle set screw hit the plates will not go past half throttle...

Ive used this product in the past which works great it isolates the carburetor from the heated intake manifold and elminates vapor locking due to the use of ethanol gas

Would like for it to have been cut better with smoother edges but for the price it works keeps carb temp about 40 degrees less than intake temp

This did the trick for keeping the gas in my carb from boiling on a hot day.

Great not just as a heat insulator, as a spacer it was what I needed to adapt a new Edelbrock carburetor to a vintage car.
