Makes bedtime more fun; three settings do work
I have a floor lamp in my bedroom with a frosted plastic lamp shade (which is long and funnel-shaped, so, perfect for housing this bulb). I bought this bulb because I thought it would be neat to have a flickering fire-like light in my bedroom, and it's even better than I expected because it gives my bedroom a deep, reddish glow at bedtime that really makes me want to go to bed more. (I've always hated and procrastinated "bed time," so this has been great.) Also, as advertised, there are three light "settings" that you can scroll through by turning your lamp quickly on and off. I was surprised that that feature works because my floor lamp is just a cheap Ikea or Target plastic thing with no dimming settings of its own.

nifty
pretty nifty effect, we used to simulate a coal fire, buried the lamp inside a pile of slag glass and coal...most effectivewith some thought and masking it is very effective

I bought this to go into the outside lamp in our front yard. I read up a little on the product and was concerned with some comments regarding which way the bulb faces etc, but thought I would take a chance. This bulb is magical! It looks amazing. I am now ordering another 2 for more lamps that we have.I would note that if the bulb is a drop down fixture, I dont think it would look right, but definately for upright where the screwfix is at the bottom and the bulb sits upright like the picture.Great product!

Over priced
These are pretty cool but they only look like a real fire behind frosted glass. I'm only giving this particular item two stars because I feel like it's way overpriced. I purchased one on eBay for $8 that is essentially identical so I feel like I got ripped off paying $30 for this one.

Your browser does not support HTML5 video. A neighbor came by and saw my lamp and asked if I thought it was safe to have a big candle in my lamp. He thought it was actually flickering flames. Looks really cool and fir right into a standard bulb fitting replacing a 40 watt bulb. Looks really great at night too.

Not what I expected
I liked the idea of this bulb but it looked like a fake flame.

Flame Didnt Work
I ordered one of these light bulbs excited to put it in my lamp post outside the front of my house. The flaming feature does not work. The light comes on but other than that it's just a lightbulb. This bulb was really expensive to have it not work.
