Saberlight Sparq XL Triple Beam Plasma Lighter

works great for paracord!
We don't smoke but we do burn the ends of a lot of paracord (and occasionally larger nylon rope & lines). This device works great for it. The 3 beams are wide enough to cover the entire end of the paracord, and the little plasma area gets HOT. It'll quickly and precisely melt the end down, and the focus area is tight enough that we get a lot of control. It's about as good as a butane torch (tight blue flame), and way better than a butane lighter (long yellow flame).Haven't yet tested for longevity; if it seems to not last long-enough I'll update the review.Mini update: we used it to burn a few paracord ends (not a lot), then tonight it died on our last sparkler. We used it to light about a dozen bottle rockets and 6 big sparklers, and it needed a recharge. The recharge took less than 2h. It does work great for paracord & fireworks, but I would recommend a top-up charge before any extended planned activity. For comparison, I fill my butane torch about once per year and we use it an awful lot more.

Quick shipping and a great product! Works perfectly lighting cigars
Quick shipping and a great product! Works perfectly lighting cigars.A lifetime warranty shows the seller believes in the product. I like the heft and size of this lighter. If I had a criticism to make, the cap hinge seems to be a bit flimsy, but time will tell. It doesn't blow out and you aren't sucking in butane. Did I say I liked this lighter!!

It's worth the extra money, but I'm sure the cheaper Sparq is almost as useful
UPDATE: Two weeks later - My lighter has already failed LOL. Not only did it not last decades, it lasted not a single month. Tis the problem with these kinds of products...they are fast and furious curiosities and then they trash out in short time. Most people shrug it off as destined to fail and junk anyway, an adult toy as it were, and that's that. The market enjoys making money off what is essentially junk. If there were a $100 lighter out there, I would buy it. But it seems everyone is choosing to produce junk in the 10-35 dollar range....I will give it another go. I always give a product a second chance but I have no interest in constantly exchanging my lighters out every two weeks or two months or even two years. Lifetime warranty or no lifetime warranty. I still love the idea of this tech, but I can't in good faith leave it at 5 stars. It's about this specific product, not what the tech does. Will update back to 5 stars if the replacement delivers for at least two months of service. If you are in the market for one of these, you'll be hard pressed to choose one of the inferior models. It seems illogical to now choose the base design of these lighters when "freedom" designs like this here can do so much more. I have tried smokes, paper, paper towel, and a twig, all light on fire instantly except the twig. It was a bit damp and it took a few seconds to light on fire but it did catch fire. Take note in my pictures that I have large hands. It sounds like nothing I know of. It's quiet, kind of like a burning hum. That's the best I can do.Lifetime warranty, you can't go wrong. But I will say this: There's no way this thing is lasting decades so I'm not sure why that warranty is there. Batteries die. Parts give out. Nothing on this lighter screams that it will last a lifetime. Don't get me wrong, it's as well built as the next unit like it. But it seems clear to me that lifetime warranty exists solely for marketing, as with everything else that offers it. You can basically count on most people never using it to get their money back. Soooooo.....Lastly on a side note, I would only ask that some people learn to understand that not every single product that pops out of a factory is going to be this flawless tool. Duds can and do happen. Be reasonable, less upset, and get a replacement. At that point if a second chance wasn't good enough for the product THEN you dump it and give it hell.... I see these one star reviews and they aren't reviews at all, just people's displeasure that their Kingly or Queenly status wasn't stroked by the product in question. "It didn't work, I sent it back, 1 star" seriously, 1 star reviews are about as useful as 5 star reviews: not useful at all unless reviewer goes into detail. Do better...

The product description made it look so POWERFUL... aaaand it's not
It's not as impressive as I expected it to be; you really have to hold the thing you want to heat/ ignite RIGHT UP TO THE ARC OF PLASMA and that never stops feeling dangerous. Works okay for lighting a cigarette, and I imagine when I am able to use it on a cigar it will probably work well for that too. But because the plasma comes out of these sharp looking metal prongs it just doesn't feel safe putting that directly in contact with glass. For, you know, burning incense or whatever. The other disappointing thing is that the cap came loose, completely fell off, after maybe a dozen uses. So now it's scary to carry it in my pocket (what if I forget to flip it "off" before I pocket it, and the cap disconnects and I lean against something just the right way, and I set my pants on fire with PLASMA?) and thus, rarely gets used.I like the concept, and must say that I've only plugged it in to charge it once and it's still going. But that's because I turn it "on" right before I use it to light a cigarette, then switch it immediately to "off" before snapping the loose cap in place (a magnet kinda holds it there, but it's easy to knock loose) and nervously pocketing it. It then becomes the first thing out of my pocket the moment I get back inside. Make a version with less shoddy construction, and I might be willing to give it another try.
