Couleur Experte Dark Blonde, Biscotti

The last photo is an older photo to show that my roots are darker and that I already had some previous color/ lightener towards my ends. I purchased the 7.0 dark blonde kit. My natural color so I’ve been told is a light brown level 6. I like to lighten my hair a little bit, because I like to have dimension and I am a low maintenance kinda gal. I only applied the lightener to my hair, not the color. I did a test strand first on a small section underneath the bottom back side of my head which is the darker/natural virgin part of my hair. I liked how the strand test came out, so I then applied the lightener all over my head/hair except on the roots per directions. However, I don’t think the lightener is meant to be applied everywhere. I used both of the applicators to apply it all over and then I used a soft bristle brush to brush it throughout more, but on top only if that makes sense. Left it in for about 15-20 minutes and washed it out with my regular shampoo and conditioner.

I haven’t used this in a few years and I forgot how much the hair color actually damages your hair. Even with using the conditioner which doesn’t seem to help at all my hair was brittle, damaged and knotty after coloring.

I was very happy to find this product on Amazon because some of the stores no longer carry all colors and as you can imagine, the differences between the shades is dramatic. This is a three step box, one step is the base coat, one step is the highlighting and one step is the after care conditioner to be used once a week. All three work really well so this is a significant value. I have used this kit over and over and never had a bad result. Following the directions you can easily color and highlight your own hair and have people tell you it looks nice, even hair stylists tell me I do a "good job." I do recommend getting your hair professionally trimmed after using this two step coloring process as it can be a little damaging. However, highlighting always damages a little no matter what product you use so that is kind of a given. The real gem in this box is that tube of conditioner, that stuff is like gold.....makes your hair look healthy and soft and helps fight brassiness.

I've been having my hair professionally colored for a long time, and it's been long time and a lot of expense that left me unhappy with the color. I tried this - when I did the first step of the dark brown, I was horrified - I thought it was too dark The next day, on dry hair as directed, I started with the little brushes and then just switched to smushing the highlighting misture on the gloves and rubbing it over my curls, and then a bit more. I left it in the full recommended 20/25 minutes and the color is an absolutely beautiful rich warm gold. For $15 rather than the $80 they get in the salon for very short hair, I can't imagine ever again going back to a salon for color.

This is the greatest ever haircolor kit for those who need color plus highlights. First time I tried the slightly lighter color but this one is beautiful! The instructions make it very easy to use too. Why pay a hundred dollars or more for salon color? And with practice doing the highlights it will be easy to make it look as good as the salon. I plan to use foiling for the highlights next time and have my hubby do the back sections. I'm very happy!Ok, the foil was a mistake, too hard to handle with the highlights. I also learned that it is very important to start the highlights in the front and use then sparingly. I had some leftover and added another highlight to the front and that section was more brassy than the others, so follow the directions carefully, go easy on the highlights and check them before rinsing, and you will have better luck.
