You Will Thank Yourself
Omg.... Your arthritis will thank you. I've been using every other kind of pipe cutter for my diy plumbing jobs around the house. This sucker made my most recent job so much easier and quicker. No problems with it yet and I always keep my reviews updated if a glowing review fails over time. My only regret now is that I waited so long to buy myself a ratcheting pipe cutter. I definitely recommend this one. It's affordable and you deserve tools that make the job easier.

Bates PVC Pipe Cutter: A Cut Above the Rest!
I recently had the pleasure of using the Bates PVC Pipe Cutter, and I must say, it exceeded my expectations in every way possible. As someone who frequently tackles DIY plumbing projects, I've used my fair share of pipe cutters, but the Bates cutter stands out as a true gem. From the moment I picked it up, I could tell this tool was built with quality in mind. It's sturdy, well-constructed, and comfortable to hold, making it easy to maneuver. But where it truly shines is in its performance.Cutting PVC pipes with the Bates cutter was a breeze. The sharp, durable blade made quick work of even thick pipes, providing clean and precise cuts every time. I anticipated some resistance or the need for extra effort, but to my delight, it effortlessly glided through the material, leaving smooth edges that required minimal finishing. One of the standout features of this cutter is its ease of use. The ratcheting mechanism makes it incredibly simple to apply consistent pressure while cutting, ensuring a clean and even cut without straining your hand or wrist. Whether you're a seasoned pro or a DIY enthusiast, you'll appreciate how user-friendly this tool is.I was also impressed with the cutter's versatility. It handled a variety of PVC pipe sizes with ease, eliminating the need for multiple tools or constant adjustments. This versatility saved me time and made my projects more efficient. In summary, the Bates PVC Pipe Cutter is a must-have for anyone working with PVC pipes. It not only performs flawlessly but does so with an ease and precision that sets it apart from the competition. I couldn't be happier with its performance, and I wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone in need of a reliable and efficient PVC pipe cutter. Bates has truly delivered a cut above the rest with this outstanding tool!

As advertised and does the job
This review is written with those who don't need a one-off tool for a job. As a one-off tool, it's well worth the money compared to sawing.I bought this as an alternative to another model/brand I had purchased earlier (and am returning). All I need is a straight-cutting PVC tube cutter for 1" sched40 PVC tubing. I have about a hundred cuts to make. I'm making the support structure of my project out of that stuff, and sawing will get way too messy.I really like the ratcheting action on it. It allows you to adjust as you cut. That way you usually get a clean, even, straight cut, saving me hours, and a mess, sanding things flat and level. It does the job without causing me pain in my arthritic hands, too.The down sides to it would apply to those who want something hugely durable. It doesn't FEEL durable in a "I'll never have to replace it in my life" kind of way that many tools feel like. The ratcheting action is pretty loose, and the metal, while thick enough to do the job, isn't as thick, and the fittings as tight, as one would expect for a long-lasting tool.I think it'll last long enough to plumb a home or three, and MIGHT go longer, but by that point, I have the sense it'd be having issues. So for being "flimsy" (which may be a bit harsh of a word), one star off.Otherwise, for what I need, it's great, and I'd definitely recommend it to hobbyists and those who don't do plumbing for a living (unless you want a cheap backup!).

Cuts pipe
Works perfectly for what I needed it for with a great price! Cuts very straight.

Strongly Recommended
It does the job and very easy. Well worth the price. The rest are way too overpriced. Strongly recommended.
User
Cuts extremely well
Took me a minute to figure out how it works, but it cuts through pvc pipe like butter. It's great, and doesn't require much strength!

Cheap. Chunk of blade chipped and broke off. Only used them probably 30 times
This broke in less than 6 months. I bought it to cut BULLY STICKS in half for my dog to make them into sizable 4inch treats rather than giving him a foot long every time he gets one. The blade chipped and a chunk of the metal stuck into the bully stick. Iโm glad I noticed the metal shard and pulled it out of the stick before giving it to my dog otherwise we wouldโve been going to the VET for surgery. Theyโre lightweight and grip is fine and I thought they were decent functioning up until this happened. Now I realize the blade is super cheap. And I donโt meant a little metal shaving. Iโm talking a finger nail size of the blade chipped off while cutting the bully stick. I canโt imagine they would be anymore durable when actually using them on PVC. Less risk sure. Still frustrating. Iโve only used them probably 30 times since January.

Another essential tool in my kit
This is a great pipe cutter at a good price. I should have bought one of these a long time ago, it's so easy to cut pipes now. I've cut Pex, PVC, and 1/2 inch irrigation tubing. It's a ratcheting cutter, so it takes a number of pumps to cut through a pipe.

sturdy and reliable
well made, cuts through pvc like butter

Puts plastic pipes Really Well.
Did a great clean job cutting my plastic pipes. It's relatively cheap too! I don't need to use a saw to cut! If you look at the photo closely there is a cut in the white pipes, it at so smooth you can barely see any creases
