JAWSOME!
As an 80's kid I have a great deal of fondness for a number of films that, despite being critical or commercial failures ( Red Sonja, The Ice Pirates, Masters of the Universe etc ) I have a great deal of fondness for. This is due, mostly, to the fact that they have been marinating in childhood nostalgia for many many years, and as a result I overlook their flaws in favor of the warm nostalgic glow they give me when I watch them.JAWS THE REVENGE is one of those films. I openly confess that I love & own all the JAWS films, and the fourth one has intrigued me the most as the years have gone by. We have had books such as The Jaws Log ( for films 1 & 2 ) a fantastic book by Matt Taylor regarding the production of the first film ( JAWS Memories from Martha's Vineyard ) JAWS 2 : The Making of the Hollywood Sequel by Michael A.Smith and although little is available about the production on the third film ( another favorite ) I found there was even less information regarding the production on the fourth.Jaws : The Revenge has generally gone on to be labelled ( depending on whom you are talking to ) either a cinematic travesty that sank a franchise, or simply, a fun, guilty pleasure.Well, personally, I can say that Paul Downey's brilliant book about Jaws the Revenge is to be celebrated. It covers the 9-month journey from script to screen, interviews with selected cast and crew ( including Lorraine Gary, Lance Guest, Karen Young and Mitchell Anderson ) details on the novelization, the location, the filming, the reviews and critical responses, and it also covers the tragedy regarding the post-production death of 10 year old actress Judith Barsi, who played Thea Brody. I have attached screenshots of the chapters in the book so others can see just how much information is covered. So much love has gone in to creating this book, and I heartily recommend it to any fellow kid of the 80's ( who love the film as much as I do ) but also to any other film fan who just like an interesting read, and who would like to read more about this much maligned, yet interesting entry into a well loved film franchise.

Oh, that roaring thing again...
First of all, the book is quite informative. We get to learn everything about Jaws: The Revenge from the pre-production right up to post. There was the occasional chapter that felt like filler such as talking about all the other shark related films that were developed since Revenge. That might be mildly interesting to some but I don't see much point to it.Anyways...the roaring of the shark. The author really likes to make a thing of it in this book. So does every other ordinary Joe or Jess who hates this film. But the shark roared in the ORIGINAL film.Remember when the shark rose from the surface to roar at Quint, who proceeds to shoot a dart into it's chin? Yep, people forget about that. Granted, the roaring is much, much worse in Revenge. But a roar is a roar, nevertheless. Let's also not forget that films are supposed to take liberties with our reality. That's how they do a great job of transporting us into their world's.Grammar in this book is an issue every now and again. During Lorraine Gary's interview there is even a question asked that goes unanswered. I'm not sure what happened there but I'm glad that I only paid for the kindle version and not the ludicrously priced soft and hard backed versions. The author also liked to make assumptions about what certain people were thinking when they chose to make the movie. The Story of Jaws: The Revenge is an interesting read but the reasons given for him to think it's the worst film ever made (it's nowhere close) are questionable at best.

Awful book
This is truly awful. Woefully written (check out the amount of times the author says "slew" near the start, and comprised mainly of quotes from other sources. It's a real shame as it's an interesting subject matter but I can't remember the last time I've read a book so poorly written.Luckily for me I paid for this with a gift card, can't imagine actually handing over money for this garbage.

Meh…
Rehashes a lot of archive interviews. Doesn’t really cover any new ground and very short for the price I paid (£8.99)

A fascinating book about a shark that sunk a franchise!
Fantastic insight into a universally mocked franchise killer. This book however shouldn't be ever mocked, as it features interviews with key personal from the film including the elusive Lorraine Gary herself & ultimately helps you start appreciating the final film that little bit more now. Well researched & a fun, informative read! Grab a copy!

Great book!
This is a very informative read about what is regarded as one of the worst films ever made. Whether you love Jaws: The Revenge (as I do) or hate it, this book provides the best insight to date on the production of the film and makes for a very entertaining read.

The story behind “THE STORY”……
This book covers many aspects on the creation of JAWS THE REVENGE; a great many details! It’s a really interesting look at one of the most notorious movies ever made! (any franchise) It’s great that someone finally put together a book that will sit right next to my other “ making of “ JAWS books!

Very Little Facts About The Film
Purchased this because I love all of the Jaws films. Unfortunately this book contains very little facts about the making of the film. There is nothing here that is new or fascinating.
