The media could not be loaded.  We purchased this for a science demonstration and it works well for that purpose. But I was impressed by how really beautiful it was, colors changing as the vortex waved and swirled. When we added glitter, you could see how the vortex picked up the particles, moving into the funnel-just like a tornado! The kids love it and, because it is so beautiful, they stay with the weather lesson and my discussion longer than they might otherwise. It's great; good value, sturdy and functions easily.

Bought it in February 2019, it is still working properly and in the way it is advertised. Remote works headache free and is really cool. One important point: The seller advertises that you can add aluminum foil balls to the whirlpool for its cool effect. We did it twice and it looked cool...BUT please beware: if the balls are big, they will sink (even when the lamp is on) and hit the propeller or get stuck very soon (our first time): This will hurt the motor. If they are tiny enough to float, they will sink when the lamp is off and get stuck under the propeller frame in long run (our second time). This will hurt the motor too and removing those tiny balls is not an easy task. So, please either do not do this or use floating materials only. Otherwise, this is a great product.

The media could not be loaded.  My son has a fascination with weather and tornadoes in particular so when we were looking for gifts he picked this lamp. He loves it and I do find it relaxing however it shuts off and turns back on by itself randomly. We’ve had it for two nights now and both nights at bedtime I turn it off a little while later it turns back on. Nobody’s turning it back on. I’ve also seen it turn off without anyone touching it so now I’m worried about leaving it plugged in. Since there’s nothing in the description about the lamp only staying on for a period of time or the lamp coming on by itself I’m assuming it’s defective. I’d appreciate it if the seller would contact me about this issue. Thanks

My five year old is obsessed, he adores it. After a month however, it awarded making noise. I still gave 5 stars because he kept putting things in it. I'm sure the noise is from user error, so don't put G.I. Joe or hotwheels in it. Do put quarter inch squares of aluminum foil in it, that's cool and I'm sure is harmless. The Hipp has been pleases. Act accordingly.

Overall this was a good purchase and my 5 year old loves it. We bought it for him for his birthday when he started showing interest in natural disasters (lol). The first one stopped working on the first day. The lights stopped working and when I got them to work, the motor stopped working. My little one was disappointed! I contacted the company right away and explained the problem and they were very prompt. They told me to keep the one I have and they’d send me a new one free of charge. Somehow they sent me the wrong item, so I contacted them again. They allowed me to keep the item (which I will likely use!) and they sent me a new tornado very promptly! We’ve been using the new one for a few weeks and have had no issues with it thus far. Customer service is great and we love the product as long as it works! :) thank you!

Right out of the box it's not spinning. Very disappointing! Figured maybe it needed to have water to get working but on the instructions it says to empty the water in it to get it working again so i added waterin it to give it a try.. still nothing it still didn't work so emptied it out tried spinning it with the long screwdriver just to get it moving still doesn't spin almost like the motor isn't getting power.. nothing like being excited to use your new lamp and right out of the box it's a dud. Frustrating I'm going to order another one and return this one and see if the next one is any better.. but kind of hesitant, because this one didn't work out of the box can't imagine this thing is going to run for very long. if I do get a working one. Will update my review at a later date once I receive another one. Definitely could use some improvement on QC this product should have never have been shipped out unless you just wanted to use it for a night light with the LEDs but that's not the point of the lamp.

The lamp works, but the remote can't change the light's colors properly. The red light button turns the light off, and all buttons beneath it just turn the light varying shades of green. The real problem though is that I can't get into contact with the seller so far, so I have no idea how to fix this. It's like they're just leaving me with a product that doesn't work properly. I could return it, but all I want is to have it fixed.Edit: They gave me a new one for free and a refund as well through Amazon. It took a long time to get responses, but they did right by me in the end, so I'll give them plenty of credit.

Lamp works great if you can get the remote to work. Lamp is pretty solid, looks great and has a pretty quiet motor. The remote, the only way to turn it on and off, is a piece of junk. I ended up having to throw the whole thing away because the remote stopped working.
