Multi-Dimensional and Unique
As mentioned previously, in some of my online writings related to the Guardians of the Galaxy film and music, my husband was the one who indirectly influenced me to watch the 2014 film and also the latest 2017 film. Each film is enjoyable to watch in its own way and the 2017 film of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 (Plus Bonus features) touches on Peter Quill/the Star Lord (Chris Pratt) basking in the glory of some of his accomplishments and eventually meeting his father named Ego (Kurt Russell). The character of Mantis (Pom Klementieff) is introduced in this film as somewhat of a pet to Ego who eventually bonds with the other guardians. Peter Quill/the Star Lord is shown also accompanied by friends who have been with him some time such as Gamora (Zoe Saldana), Drax the Destroyer (Dave Bautista), and Rocket (Bradley Cooper). They are all helping to raise baby Groot (Vin Diesel) and also meet up with a man (Michael Rooker)who was an unofficial adoptive father of Peter Quill/the Star Lord. Of course, there are many more featured actors/actresses in this film and what gives this science fiction fantasy film a sense of humanity is how it touches on friends and family. This was especially the case when the dynamics between Gamora and her sister Nebula (Karen Gillan). Both Zoe Saldana and Karen Gillan creatively give their best in their dynamics of how they interact as sisters. However,I like how the writers of this film also tell Nebula’s side of the story in this film that explain her behavior in how she acts despite the fact that it is evident which sister is considered more likable/well-loved. I say this because both in real-life and sometimes even in other movies and stories involving family members, it is human nature to only share/listen/tell the side of the story of the more well-loved/golden sheep type of family member while sometimes not taking into account the side of the story of the person who deep down knows and accepts where they stand socially but has justified reasons for being the way they are towards other family members that may not always be understood by some people. Last, but not least, an eclectic and unique mix of music is included in the film which helps give a viewer the idea on how certain plot sequences tie into the outcomes (regardless of whether you consider yourself a writer).

Dude... the tears and heart break are real
I watched both volumes back to back. I'd never seen them before. The first one had me tear up a little bit but not too bad. Dude... This one I was almost sobbing by the time the credits rolled. For a dude that grew up without a father or a real male figure to look up to for most of my life this one hit home hard. It reminded me that my grandfather in the short time I had him at the end of his life (five years before he followed my grandmother to the afterlife) was my Daddy. I had never really thought about it or him like that. Great, now I am crying again while writing this review. The story is super relatable for me. I think just about everyone will find something in it even if it isn't the father angle like it was for me. Baby Groot was absolutely adorable and a much needed comedy relief at times when the story would get intense. I loved seeing Stallone and Russell in the movie. I grew up watching both of those men in various sci-fi and action movies. I think the last time they were in a movie together that I remember was Tango and Cash. Not sci-fi but still a great movie. My best friend says there is going to be a third volume. I can't wait to go see it. I might even take myself out to the drive-in instead of waiting to rent it on here!

if you're a fan of the comic series, super hero movies, or just sci-fi movies - this movie will be engaging and poignant
Comic Book Movie Review (8.5/10) "Great!" (Spoiler Free) Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 Director: James Gunn Starring: Chris Pratt (Peter Quill aka Starlord), Zoe Saldana (Gamorra), Dave Bautista (Drax), Bradley Cooper (Rocket Raccoon), Vin Diesel (Baby Groot), Michael Rooker (Yondu), Karen Gillan (Nebula), Pom Klementieff (Mantis), Ego (Kurt Russell), Ayesha (Elizabeth Debicki) Plot: Quill has never known who his father was and has always thought that he had abandoned him since he was young. Quill discovers that who his father really is, and his ideas of friend and family are put to the test as he juggles between blood and the Guardians... This movie's major strength is how it plays with your emotions. You will laugh for the majority of the movie (this movie is REALLY funny - especially when Rocket takes on Yondu's Ravager crew), but you may also drop a tear or two towards the end of the film. My date was crying by the end of the movie, and I heard sniffles around the theatre. Because the first movie took the time to esdtablis each character, this movie felt very natural in terms of the team dynamic and each of the Guardians are loveable in his or her own way. As a movie this film is funny, moving, and engaging and you will be entertained for the 2 hours length time, but the plot was not as well thought out as the first Guardians of the Galaxy movie. However, the first Guardians also was one of the best Marvel Studios movies ever made so topping that movie was also an incredible task. This movie also is chock full of Guardians comic homages with appearances by characters such as Martinex T'Naga, the crystallized warrior and many more. This is a Starlord focused story, and although the other Guardians play a prominent role, the main focus is on Quill and his father. But the movie also takes a look at the extremely disfunctional relationship between Gamorra and Nebula and you come to understand why there is animosity between the two. However, though the story takes its time to show you what Quill and his father are about, the Gamorra/Nebula relationship felt really rushed. One moment they're at each other's throats, and then the next moment they become trusted allies and I thought the turn could've happened a little later. Even Yondu took a whole movie (the first Guardians of the Galaxy) to realize how much he loved Quill as an adopted son, but it took about 30 minutes for Gamorra and Nebula to become sisters. Also, it didn't really make sense to me why Rocket and Groot had to stay behind at one point of the movie when traveling as a team probably guaranteed more safety and less risk for Nebula's treachery, but this decision seemed to be in service more for the plot rather than the movie as a whole. I highly recommend this movie if you're a fan of the comic series, super hero movies, or just sci-fi movies as this movie was really engaging and poignant at the same time.

Danke!
