We keep coming back to this same solar cover every time we need a new one. It lasts about 3 seasons before starting to break down and become brittle, and we use it for one more season past that. It seems such a waste to keep throwing away this much plastic, but it makes such a difference. Not so much in warming up the water, but it really helps to prevent heat loss overnight and also saves water by preventing evaporation. It is easy to cut to fit our free form 18x36 pool and works well with a solar reel. We have tried other solar blankets that claim to last longer, but they aren't worth the extra money. Additionally, the extra weight of thicker mil plastic makes the blanket heavy to roll up and makes the reel bend down. This one seems to be the happy medium of longevity and ease of use.

Picked up the 1200 series in March of 2023. It's been on the pool summer 2023 - summer 2025. It does exactly what it's supposed to - maintains and keeps heat in the colder evenings, prevents evaporation in the warm ones. In Northeast Ohio - so this is a short-use season (May through Sept); Just started to notice the blue bubble failure and had my first edge tear during closing. 3 summers is what I anticipated to get out of this. It is not a permanent solution - you will need to buy another. We picked up a cover for it, and I think that made a difference. the prior homeowner left his in the sun and complained they only lasted one season. Note - The 1200 is heavy for a 20x40 pool - buy an appropriate reel. the 1600 is likely overwhelming. I will buy another in the winter of 2026 - this is a no-brainer for us.

I always had these at my house pools. The color seems to reflect the heat off them, so it doesn't get crazy hot. When sunning in the pool, I usually took to using two of these in a cross formation. I always wanted to keep my arms above water to get some sun, but the single float wasn't wide enough. As far as durability, I think I'd get 2-3 years per float. Durability suggestions: Keep out of the sun when not in use. Avoid letting kids sit on them and slide off the deck into the pool. I had an inground pool surrounded by a square slate edge. Scraping on the hard surface punctures the blue coating on the float, which makes it degrade more quickly. My dogs used to like them too, but sharp nails can also puncture the coating. Responsible use by adults with proper storage will probably get you many years of use out of one of these. A lot of rough use by kids probably means you'll be replacing these every year or two. To be clear - these aren't inflatable. It's foam surrounded by a thicker coating. If the coating is punctured or it cracks from rough use (or just sitting in the sun for days when not in use), the foam gets exposed and degrades more quickly. It's a quality product for sure. Proper use will definitely extend the useful life.

This product is GARBAGE! It lasted one season. The second season we started seeing the bubbles break and fall apart because of being brittle. It worked great the first year but at the beginning of the third season it was trashed. We never let it sit in recently chlorinated water, reeled it up when not using it and stored it indoors through winter. With a claimed 10 year warranty this is what customer service had say. My last message before advising them I was posting their response on Amazon's Review: Attached are the photos requested. Again, the link below has all the photos for your convenience. It is clearly broken on the seam. I'm not sure what a warranty might be if the product doesn't perform within two years of purchase especially if it claims to have a 8 to 10 year warranty. Their response: We have received your photos, and have had our specialists review them for warranty coverage. Unfortunately, what is shown in the photos is not covered by the manufacturer's limited warranty. This warranty only covers manufacturing defects and does not cover rips, tears, or bubble damage. The manufacturing defects covered would be true seam separation, where the layers that make the seam begin to peel apart from each other, and delamination, which is the separation of the layers that make up the solar cover. As the photos submitted do not show a manufacturing defect, the warranty claim has been denied. If you do have a photo showing one, or both, of these conditions, please submit this for warranty review. Thank you So there's clearly no integrity behind this company's warranty. ...Response from Company... After replying back to the company about how our their warranty coverage was and another request for pictures, I advised them that I had sent 29 photos and they could clearly see the damage. I stated the warranty is useless if it covers things that don't occur. I further stated that I would be spreading the word that they didn't stand behind their product/warranty. The next morning I received an email saying the warranty was approved. I paid the shipping and handling cost for a replacement. I changed my review rating from 1 star to 3. The product ought to last more than one or two seasons. And it should not be such a hassle to make a claim. Either make a better product or acknowledge claims against the warranty. We will see how long this replacement lasts. Thanks though for honoring the warranty.

Our clear cover started disintegrating this the second year of ownership. We do use it often to warm the pool in cooler weather along with the heater. I have always taken care of it, like covering it on the storage reel. The seller quickly responded to my warranty claim with a replacement so I couldn't be happier. Update: Seller says I must pay nearly $50 for shipping and handling for replacement cover. I will not submit a payment outside of Amazon due to security concerns which Rufus says not to do. After reading other reviews elsewhere I am very Leary but will report my experience here. Update: My cover was replaced and the seller worked with me quite professionally. I just installed it today. I changed my review to 5 stars from 3 based in this solid customers service in my case.

As one who has used pool covers for the past ten years, I can attest that this is an excellent product. I know that your thinking "how is one pool cover better than another?" Two main reasons: One is that the seams are well sealed. I've had covers where the seams started to become unsealed within a few weeks. Second, it is a precise rectangle. That may seem unimportant but for someone who has rolled up a pool cover at least a thousand times, I can tell you from experience that covers that are off by even a couple inches makes the process of rolling up the cover rather tedious and time consuming. This one I can roll up in maybe 60-75 seconds. Rolling up a pool cover is a pain in the first place but if you know you can do it quickly and efficiently then it makes that spur of the moment midnight dip in the pool that much more likely! For those of you on the fence concerning a pool cover, let me tell you the benefits I've noticed. 1. You can heat your pool easier. The numbers I see thrown around of up to ten degrees are for the most part true. Before I started using pool covers, I could hope for a summer time high water temperature of 80-82 degrees. With the pool cover I can keep it at about 85 with ease (too warm for my taste but that's how my wife likes it. I was gone last weekend and when I took the cover off on Monday, the water temp was 90 degrees! I had to keep the cover off for a couple days to get it back to a suitable temperature. 2. It saves on chemicals. Now of course, the higher your water temperature the more chlorine you go through, but with the cover on it keeps the chlorine from leaking away into the atmosphere allowing it to work in your pool longer. 3. It saves on water. The way you heat water is by evaporating it, but with a cover, that evaporating water goes right back into the system. During the summer I can lose maybe a quarter inch of water a day without the pool cover on versus a quarter inch every couple days with it on. In fact the only time that I'm losing water is when I take the cover off to swim. 4. It keeps the pool cleaner. I honestly haven't used the automatic vacuum in nearly a month. I pick up the few leaves that get in by net but I haven't had to clean it in any other way. That in itself is a real time saver. All told, it is a bit of an outlay for the entire reel system and the covers last only about perhaps 18 months at best, but overall I would consider the pool cover system to be one of the better purchases I've made. And as for the pool cover, this one has been an excellent purchase and value. I will surely, 100% buy my next cover from them.

Our pool is 14' x 30' including fiberglass edges along concrete walkway. This cover is barely wide enough to cover the long pool edges with about 6" overlap on which we use heavy rocks to hold in place so it doesn't blow away. However, if this product were about also 3' to 4' longer ideal for total length of our pool but for our purpose we don't cover one end that has steps so the dog can access as a bathtub/cooling treat anyways. So if you buy this, be aware the product does not come with a lot of excess/overage material that I believe other manufacturers we've purchased covers usually include. Have not had this width coverage issue before, but again not concerned about the length for our usage. Mentioned we do place heavy rocks on the cover/concrete to keep the wind from blowing it away. I will say this cover and thickness has not so far shown any degradation/damage from weight or abrasion of the rocks as other covers we've purchased did show those issues sooner than expected (i.e., air bubbles would pop/break, surface scratch/damaged). This product has not shown those issues for a summer season's use so far. Also, although we have not super-shocked our pool with the cover on intentionally, maybe once, we usually keep free chlorine at 2-5 ppm and this cover has not shown so far any degradation or meaningful discoloration, whereas prior products used did show sooner signs of damage. Could be we are being more careful with this cover and chlorine usage, but the normal 2-5 ppm seems to be reasonable for this cover, at least the first season. With other products, the chlorine effects usually show certainly by end of first season/second season and significant issues thereafter. So maybe the material and gauge thickness we purchased this round will last longer than prior products which may not have had same thickness or product quality. Other covers we purchased had tendency where seams are glued as it is multi-panel, to show signs of detachment, although so far this cover has not to-date. So for now, would say I would buy this particular product again for its overall quality and longevity, but would seek out a longer length size and maybe 1 foot wider width.

We buy this same solar cover every year. It works, and definitely helps the pool maintain temperature. However, we need to replace it every year, as it starts to deteriorate over time and shed the "bubbles." If you are looking for this as a long term product, it likely is not sturdy enough but for an annual produce it works great. For reference, we live in Pittsburgh, have a salt water pool and keep it open May to October.

Cannot recommend due to very poor quality of material . The seams are already coming apart on day two of use. It is over priced bubble wrap.
