Great tools at an unbeatable price. Read my review.
I retired from my automotive tech job after 20+ years of service around 2000, and now restore cars and vintage motorcycles as a hobby. I also have 3 boats that i own and service regularly. I say this to let you know that i have professional tools off the truck, and vintage Craftsman. I know how to use them...the right tool for the right job. Onwards to these new Craftsman wrenches. I bought this metric set and the companion SAE set for my secondary toolbox at lakefront property. I prefer to keep the tool truck stuff away from the water and the boats as one slip and the tool is lost to the lake bottom. There is a bunch of chinese and older taiwan junk down there. I used these recently to bring boats out of storage in the spring and now laying them up again for winter. ALSO tractor service and trailer bearing service. They got a real workout using almost all sizes. They are great, durable, servicable tools. No function issues. My only neutral comments are these are made in India (not Taiwan or china) and they are slightly heavier and thicker than the USA version. The country of origin is not on the tool, but was on the packaging and on the website. Working in blind spots and under components where you cannot see directly what you are doing takes an adjustment and hand-feel is important. I kept feeling like i was using a wrench one size bigger than needed, but it was the correct nominal size. When you use the same tools for years, you "know" how it should feel. These tools work well and fit my hardware fine. No slop no rounding. If you dont use tools regularly you will not have developed that instincive hand-feel, so you will not miss it. Great tools with very good finish. One more small complaint if Stanley B&D read this... please mark them as "forged" on the tool panel. I looked it up and they are forged in India. I bought a set of deep 3/8 sockets too. And ghey pass my test too ( made in Taiwan). Welcome to global sourcing.
